CCSupport
Hello all, Anyone getting this issue....when a client registers a domain name, eNom sends a verification email directly to the client, however it sends 'from' our main business email address...in essence it tries to use our email server as a relay for the email if the client has their email on our email servers. The server admin (ours) receives a bounce email: From address: Mail Delivery System <MAILER-DAEMON@mailchannels.net> This is the mail system at host relay.mailchannels.net. I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below. For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster. If you do so, please include this problem report. You can delete your own text from the attached returned message. The mail system <username@clientsdomain.com>: host mail.clientsdomain.com[123.456.789.101] said: 550 Authentication is required for relay (in reply to MAIL FROM command) Obviously our email server does not allow relay....so....can anyone advise on what the heck is going on when eNom send their verification emails?
Administrators WHMCS John Posted May 30, 2014 Administrators Share Posted May 30, 2014 Hi, I'd recommend contacting eNom support directly regarding this.
CCSupport
Thanks. We have created an eNom support ticket too...we had hoped someone had seen this before but looks like it's just us! We have got pretty locked down email servers so this might be linked to it as it is looking like an email relay issue.
Troy
If your servers won't allow relay from Enom (which uses MailChannels) on behalf of your domain, you'll have to disable smtp authentication requirements for the MailChannels IP addresses, which are listed at https://mailchannels.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/200700025-Which-IP-addresses-does-MailChannels-send-out-of- The "Trusted SMTP IP addresses" list in the Exim Configuration area in WHM will probably suffice for this if the servers run cPanel. If you publish a SPF record for your domain, you'll also need to include spf1.mailchannels.net and spf2.mailchannels.net in it.
CCSupport
Thanks Troy, Much appreciated. Interestingly enough eNom came back and said a similar thing, apart from saying we would only need to add 'include: relay.mailchannels.net' for the SPF....we will have play....joy at another administrative nightmare to keep an eye out for changing outgoing IP addresses too it seems!
ditto
We just add the enom mail ip 69.64.153.133 to our spf records, and have not had any trouble yet.
