BobC
Can some explain to me why it is that whenever a new release of WHMCS is issued, the full package of that release is the only one that can be downloaded? For example, 5.3.4 was out only 2 days. By the time I found out about it, 5.3.5 was released. Now, all I can download is 5.3.5. Why can I not download any other full release version? Maybe I don't want to install incrementals but I do want to go back to an earlier version and work with it for a while. Why can I not do this. I used to be able to until this new upgrade method was adopted.
brian!
because they only want you to download the latest version! I can see the logic behind that policy. whenever I d/l a new release, I always get both the incremental patch and full version - as I know once the next update is released, the previous versions will be unavailable.
BobC
I do that too when I know the release is available. Normally, when I log into my WHMCS Admin, a large box would open up telling me that an upgrade is available. Now, it does not even though I checked the little selection box for it not to appear until a new upgrade was available the last time I saw it. By the time I knew about 5.3.4, 5.3.5 was already out and now, my option is not to install a fresh 5.3.4 because I cannot get the full download. In other words, the decision as to what I want to use is made somewhere else by people who have no idea why I need or want a previous version. I should be able to have all full downloads for testing on my system even if I do not use it for the live version. I can see no logical reason why full versions of all releases are not available to clients. If I was able to test 5.3.4, I might find even more things wrong that the WHMCS programmers are not aware of and are not included as fixes in 5.3.5. I can see no logical reason why full versions of all releases are not available to clients. possibly because some of the older versions have security flaws, so whmcs wouldn't want to encourage anyone to use them even on a test environment... If I was able to test 5.3.4, I might find even more things wrong that the WHMCS programmers are not aware of and are not included as fixes in 5.3.5. v5.3.5 is effectively just v5.3.4 with a handful of hotfixes - I don't think there's anything "new" in there. as an aside, you might want to look subscribing at IFTTT - it'll send me an email within minutes of there being a post on the whmcs blog about new releases... it won't be until hours later that I would get the official email from whmcs about the release. http://forums.whmcs.com/showthread.php?84547-Why-no-email-notification-on-5-2-16&p=358722#post358722

I didn't say anything about "new" in there. I said, if I had the full 5.3.4 installed, I may be able to find additional problems with it that they missed in their rush to release 5.3.5. Two days doesn't seem enough time to find all the problems with the 5.3.4 release. They may have missed some hotfixes -- time will tell.
easyhosting
you can get and download earlier versions. If you have a WHMCS account , when you go into the download area of your active licence then just under "New Installation Instructions <> Upgrade Instructions " you should see "Looking for a specific release package? Click here..." so if you clieck it will take you to a list of all available versions to download

Two days doesn't seem enough time to find all the problems with the 5.3.4 release. They may have missed some hotfixes -- time will tell. but v5.3.5 was only "rushed" out because there were a couple of issues with v5.3.4 that the hotfixes didn't fix... its practically v5.3.4.1 as far as i'm concerned! I don't see the point in seeing if there are problems in v.5.3.4 - even if there are, the default advice would be to upgrade to v5.3.5... if those errors still exist in v5.3.5, then that's more important and their fixes would be added to later updates. - - - Updated - - - you can get and download earlier versions.
