JayBird
Quick background: Say I have a hosting package I am creating, and this hosting package offers 1 GB of storage space for $1. Each additional 1 GB costs an additional $1. I see how I can add the option so that it gets billed, but I do not see how this can get provisioned automatically without spending another $70 to buy an addon. Is that right? I can somewhat see the need for the addon if you want to offer and manage every single option for an account, but think this a ripoff for something as basic as just disk space. Please, someone, tell me I am just missing something here.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted September 18, 2013 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted September 18, 2013 Hi, The Customisable Packages Addon will automate this for you: http://www.whmcs.com/addons/configurable-package-addon/ Otherwise you'd need to change the custom quotas manually.
Alex - Arvixe
To save you *a lot* more than $70 worth of administration time (long-term) your best bet would be to simply make that one off investment for the addon.
JayBird
Thanks for your reply. After using WHMCS for years, I am gaining a better understanding of why it was relatively inexpensive. You almost must purchase addons to achieve what many would consider required features. That and the overall weak design in some specific areas makes it seem as if WHMCS is not as well designed, developed or maintained as it could be. Unless its users are willing to shell out a lot more coin to really make it work like it should. Anyone have any experience with an open source alternative?
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted September 23, 2013 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted September 23, 2013 Hi, I'm sorry to hear you do not feel WHMCS represents good value for money. However as not all users require the functions of the addons we sell it makes more sense to provide a base product that everyone will find useful, and then for those who want extended functionality can do so for a proportionate cost. Don't forget that we offer a number of addons completely free: http://www.whmcs.com/appstore/10/Official-Addons
