100% worthless crap... and if you look at the stats Linux is hacked more and has more security holes than Win server...

In your dreams. Might be easier to you being a Windows OS boffin, but Linux is 100% securer than a windows node, and much more reliable. Oh don't forget 10x more going to be hacked than a Linux.

And I use Linux purely because it's stable, reliable, secure and works perfect.

and I'm a Win fan-boy and there are many things the Linux systems just do. If all you need it for is severing webpages then have fun with Linux, some of us need lots more from a OS and Windows has it, and lets face it, Linux is free and if your a datacenter with 1000 plus servers what do you think they are going to use...

If Windows was free they would ALL you Windows, and it's been polled before, go look on the internet..

I'm running it on a monster Centos server - like 8 CPU's :)

I'm setting up (not live yet) on a separate server in a separate datacenter in a separate city, on a different power grid, and with connectivity from diffeent upstream providers. And far enough away from each other that even a major earthquake is unlikely to affect both.

Not only for security, but also so that my management system will be available to my clients even in the admittedly unlikely event that our entire datacenter goes down.

Why Win server run circles around you linux people all day long

I have over 15 years of server and network administration. Linux comes from Unix, the most table OS on the planet. I prefer Linux for enterprise servers over Windows Server 2000-2012 for a number of reasons which I will not go into here as that deserves it's own thread. I will say that you can do anything under the sun with both Windows Server and nearly any Linux distribution. Also Windows Server 2012 is just amazing. Still, except for high paying clientele, there is no real advantage to either OS. You just have to learn them and then they both can almost be the same service. Still you select the appropriate OS for the business at hand.

To answer Chris's question, I use both but like Linux better overall and run WHMCS on Linux as it runs faster on the same hardware verse using Windows OS. That is the biggest drawback with Windows, it requires more power and ram to do the same tasks.

That's not true at all when the system is setup correctly... All Win system we build run hand in hand with any linux system. All in all the over all uptime for our Win boxs have been at least 10% better than any linux box... I am a MS re seller and we do 10-25 servers a month..

Properly managed servers can run nearly forever with either OS baring external influence, server maintenance and software upgrades. Everyone knows Windows uses more resources to accomplish similar tasks. There is plenty of reason to use both Windows and Linux. Saying one is better than another is just opinion and/or preference. There is nothing wrong in specializing in either or if that's what you wish. Anyone with half a brain knows you should tweak both Windows Server and Linux before going into production yet windows will still use more resources in the end. That is not putting down Windows buddy, it's a fact and not even necessarily a negativity depending on the standpoint. I don't say Windows is bad because it is not. I prefer a windows desktop over a linux GUI for one thing.

Since this is thread is only about what OS we run WHMCS on. I choose linux personally yet if a client wants to run WHMCS on windows, we will support their needs, yet it costs more to do that, that's fine with me. Cheers and Happy New Week! Peace out!

That's just not true at all.. Maybe for Win2K and before, but not the case at all with 2003 and up.. And if you install in console only mode it's faster on the same hardware... I have tested it many times for clients. I don't do hosting guys, I install servers and remote backup.. I get paid to replace Linux boxes with Win systems...
