mulitiple cron emails

I am having a strange effect that even when a cron is not set up on my server i get muliple email reports.

 

my cron was set up for 3am each morning and this is how it has worked, then last few days it have sent me the emailed reported every minute for 3am to 4am, even when i removed the crom these were still recived overnight and from my main server, checked though ssh etc. and no cron is listed.

 

All WHMCS can say through a ticket is to change my admin folder name so the rogue cron will not have anything to work on.

 

to me this is not a fix of the issue just a way to bury their head in the sand

If you're getting the reports, then it is still in your cron ...

You should get your sysadmin to take out the extra entries

It's hardly burying their head in the sand. It's certainly an environmental issue so the fix lies with you.

 

Here's a couple of things that come to mind:

 

1) Did you recently moved your WHMCS install from a different server? Wondering if there's a previous cron being called on another installation.

 

2) Do you see the cron entry in your cron logs? If not, then maybe it's being called via a web request and not a cron. In that case it will be in your web server logs and that entry will give you a place to start looking.

 

Just because the email states 'cron' doesn't mean that it's actually a cron process that executes it.

 

3) The cron report lists the time it's run at the top of the message. Is it the same email (multiple copies) or is the script being run multiple times?

Thier is nothing in the cron logs or server logs and no i have not changed servers, everything worked fine until upgraded to the latest version. with 10+ years i know how crons work and checked everything before turning to WHMCS for support.

the script run every minute from 3am to 4am and yes it was cron that was running it.

this seems to have corrected itself.

 

but my point was a clear problem somewhere and all WHMCS could say was to change the admin folder name to stop the phantom cron from sending the emails.
