wickshosting
Is anyone else having problems accessing PMs on this WHMCS forum? I received an email notification that I have a PM, and it says "You have 1 new message", but when I click on the link I get a: Not Authorised error.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted May 28, 2007 WHMCS CEO Share Posted May 28, 2007 New members aren't allowed to access or send PMs.
bear
To add to that: The reason for the restriction is that we were being spammed pretty hard a short while ago. They were posting new threads, responding to existing ones and using PM to distribute their junk, so Matt installed a mod that disallows a few things (including PMs) until you've participated a bit here. Once you hit 15 (non-spammy, non-fluffy*) posts, you can then make use of it. * Fluffy means to post nonsense like "I need 2 more", "here's another", and so on.

trine
You know, as this question comes up frequently, why not just modify the privmsg.php to tell new subscribers that they can't view messages until a certain number of posts... ???
