Can you explain the affiliates system?

I don't really get the affiliates system, like I thought people could give a url and monitor/track who they referred and signed up, but the affiliates page doesn't make any sense in the admin panel, is it that, to do what I'm thinking or is it something totally different?

You can give your customers a referral URL which they can use to refer. Your customers see this URL in their client area.

 

Be sure to enable Affiliate system under General Settings and then you can track the hits and earnings from "View Affiliate Details" under Clients Profile.

 

Your customer can also check this from affiliates page in client area. This page will have their referral URL - usually http://www.example.com/path/to/whmcs/*?aff=XYZ (Replace example.com with your domain and XYZ with the customer's Affiliate ID - different from their userid)
