Domain Expiry Date - Is this date used for renewal emails?

Had a domain renewal email go out to a client and it shows as follows:-

Dear xxxxx,

The domain name listed below will expire in -734596 days.

domain.co.uk - 02/04/2011

To ensure the domain does not expire, you should renew it now. You can do this from the domains management section of our client area here: http://www.zimt.co.uk/whmcs

Should you allow the domain to expire, you will be able to renew it for up to 30 days after the renewal date. During this time, the domain will not be accessible so any web site or email services associated with it will stop working.

Does the -734596 days get calculated from the expiry date and if so is there any way for this to be calculated automatically or to be set automatically to the same date as the next due date?

Many Thanks,

Dean
