penguin
I'll take a good guess and say you've been blacklisted: https://www.centralnic.com/registrars/whois

penguin
We did get blocked permanently recently, hence knowing about the issue. We run another whois lookup script on our site which now implements their recommend lookup method. It's far quicker than a standard whois check and has no limits on lookups. It would be nice if WHMCS incorporated this as it's an easy integration.
