kers7754
This is my first post and I am new to everything here. I have been a WWD reseller for a long time, but I want to move into my own billing / branding / hosting company. I need a high level understanding of how I could create and automate everything for core products (Domain names, hosting, email). I have purchased the full version WHMCS and own a couple of dedicated servers both Windows and Linux. WHMCS will handle all account creation, recurring billing, invoices, receipts, support ticketing questions. Correct? Once a customer puchases a package through my custom website and then WHMCS, how do I provision the hosting account and email? Is this a manual process that i would do, or do I use something like Plesk for that provisioning? I would like to be able to support both Windows and Linux hosting accounts, so I need something that will work for both. Can Plesk 10 be integrated into WHMCS? It seems that Plesk has a lot of overlap with some of the things that WHMCS does. Is Plesk more of a competing product? Is there something better to use? For the domain name registration, I would like to use Go daddy's API. Can that be integrated into WHMCS for the basic domain name tasks? Thanks in advance, --Jeff
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted January 3, 2011 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted January 3, 2011 WHMCS will handle all account creation, recurring billing, invoices, receipts, support ticketing questions. Correct? Yes Once a customer puchases a package through my custom website and then WHMCS, how do I provision the hosting account and email? Is this a manual process that i would do, or do I use something like Plesk for that provisioning? WHMCS together with Plesk can be used to automate account provisioning. Can Plesk 10 be integrated into WHMCS? Yes: http://whmcs.com/modules.php It seems that Plesk has a lot of overlap with some of the things that WHMCS does. Is Plesk more of a competing product? Is there something better to use? They're not really competing products. Plesk is the control panel your customers use to manage their website and hosting account; WHMCS takes the order, handles payments, delinquent accounts and payments. For the domain name registration, I would like to use Go daddy's API. Can that be integrated into WHMCS for the basic domain name tasks? Not out of the box, you'll need to a module yourself: http://wiki.whmcs.com/Developer_Resources
