Bulk payment method change (per client)

Since adding a card merchant a while back we've noticed more and more clients opting to pay by card but as they initially paid via another method (e.g. Paypal) any future invoices are set to Paypal still.

Is it at all possible to update (not force) any products including addons to use a specific payment method on a client basis whilst still allowing the client the ability to change the payment method in the future?

I know this is quite old, but I am having a similar issue - and one on top.

Have some clients who pay us with different methods, but their domain names are on credit card to make sure they don't accidentally expire if they pay a bit late. Last time I changed the default payment method from PayPal to cheque, I had to go through all the domains to set them back to credit card.

So I am trying to do two things:

1) Change the payment method on all products except their domains to a different one (PayPal to cheque for example). It would also work if there is way to select a type of product to change for a specific client if need be.

2) Change the default payment method without changing payment methods on existing products.

Is that possible?

Thanks
Mark
