TechGuy11
Hi I have been using whmcs for a while now with Paypal Pro. Right now when a package is purchased it emails an invoice monthly to the client. Is it possible that I can charge the client automatically on a certain day? How can I do this? I have SSL and paypal pro set up. I am using the paypalpro mudule as well.

TechGuy11
Ok, I am getting mixed answers from everyone. I got this response on my support ticket... "It's illegal to store the CVV number for a card so to do rebilling you need the payment gateway to give you permission to do transactions without the cardholder present, and thus without the CVV. That is something you would need to talk with PayPal about." I am sure someone has Paypal Pro with recurring billing...please let me know what I need to do... Thanks
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted October 4, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted October 4, 2010 That's not really a mixed answer, you just need to ensure your PayPal account can bill clients without the CVV number.
vincent_g
I don't use paypal pro but merchant accounts don't normally require that number on each billing. No billing system / Cart stores this number. I doubt Paypal Pro should require it or if so there meybe a setting in your account to allow it to do auto processing without this number. TechGuy11
I dont know this is really starting to aggravate me. I got this from Paypal support... "Thank you for contacting PayPal. Your PayPal account's level of eligibility for the use of Website Payments Pro/ Virtual Terminal (Pro/VT) requires that you submit the credit card's CVV number with each transaction. If the hurdle you are attempting to overcome involves processing Recurring Payment transactions with WHMCS without the submission of the CVV number, then we are unable to assist you in overcoming or bypassing that requirement. Advanced Fraud Management Filters (FMF) is the feature that would have allowed your account to remove the requirement to process Pro/VT transactions without the CVV number. Based on your account's level of eligibility for the use of Pro/VT we are unable to make that feature available to you. Additionally, any PayPal account's use of Recurring Payments would require that the account be able to qualify for the use of the FMF feature. As your PayPal account does not qualify for the use of this feature. Recurring Payments is not a feature you would be able to successfully utilize. You do, however, have the ability to use the Payments Standard Subscription buttons for any recurring payment processing needs. Please let us know if we can provide you with any additional assistance should you wish to investigate whether or not this feature would be useful to you. Merchant Solutions: Ph# - (888) 215-5506 Email - vt@paypal.com We know situations like this can be difficult, so thanks for working with us. If you have more questions, visit our Help Center by clicking "Help" in the top right corner of any PayPal page." I would have went with authorize.net or another merchant if I knew I couldnt have recurring billing.
marilla
Hey TechGuy11 I've been wrestling with this one for a while, both with PayPal and WHMCS. I DID manage to get approved for "Reference" payments on my PayPal Pro account, which the PayPal agent thought would do the trick, but WHMCS don't support this because it's a new feature and "there isn't a demand yet". I've tried for the third time today to get this sorted out with PayPal (I even read out your response from them to the guy on the phone) and I'll keep you posted with any developments. I'm in Canada so it may simply be a non-starter for that reason. I had an argument with WHMCS technical support about the lack of information regarding PayPal Pro as a listed merchant if they don't offer true automated recurring billing for webhosting. Their argument was that "just because you can't do recurring billing doesn't change the fact they are a merchant gateway" which I thought was not helpful. Aaarrrggghhhh!
