MACscr
Ok, this is bothering me a bit. Seems that the new open source ajax order has a lot of design issues, so i spent about an hour cleaning up a few things. Then noticed that if i wanted to use it, I had to change all my links to redirect to it. Then realized that i still have to use the regular cart if i wanted to actually allow multiple items and/or if someone just wants to just register a domain (aka, domainchecker.php). Why oh why was it designed like this and in such a poor fashion? Am I missing something or are we really just supposed to think of the "ajax" cart as just a "standalone" cart that can be used for unique purposes?
SteveV
I agree that it is very poorly designed/thought-out. The fact that it cannot be used to order a domain, or multiple products is ridiculous.
merlinpa1969
throw my hat in the ring her also I made note before that not being able to add hosting and an ssl into the cart at same time was just not gonna cut it
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted September 10, 2010 WHMCS CEO Share Posted September 10, 2010 Actually a lot of thought did go into it's design. It's designed to be a one step order process designed for a single product order, like the single product order form of old that used to be a cart template using iframes and javascript. It's a completely seperate form and not intended to be a replacement for the cart in any way, there's no need to do that or point in replicating what already exists. If you require a shopping cart, then WHMCS still has always the cart solution it has always had but for the majority of hosts a streamlined single package/domain order process is what's in demand and this caters for it. merlinpa1969
what Im refering to is a single hosting package order folks come in and buy Domain Hosting and ssl at one time the ajax form is great except that it will Not allow this to be purchased which is a shame since it is all for that single hosting account
SteveV
... for the majority of hosts a streamlined single package/domain order process is what's in demand and this caters for it. Matt But it doesn't cater for ordering a domain! Unless you mean ordering a single package + domain together?

othellotech
I was very suprised you couldnt just register a domain with it - is that coming in the next release ?
cyberneticos
The cart design has plenty-o-bugs. Nonetheless, I think it's the future of WHMCS. I will be using it as a replacement for the current click-load-click cart. The whole idea is fantastic, especially that it's open source. It might take longer to weed things out, but on the long run, it's probably going to be the best way to sell. Less clicks = more sales. Great jobs guys.
