sohouk
Some of our domains have the Enom ID Protect service. I cannot see how a client would turn this on or off, nor can I see how a client can order it. If I create a sepearte product as an addon, Domain registration or renewal does not appear in the list of services I can offer it with. How does this work? sohouk
Does no one use the Enom ID protect service? We find its a great selling tool, and profitable as well : ) Trevor
b.ahmed
According to my knowledge there no option to ON / OFF the id protection. If the client buy ID protection then why they need to switch it On / OFF
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted July 26, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted July 26, 2010 Slum Host is correct. There isn't an option in WHMCS to turn ID Protection on/off.
sohouk
That’s a disappointment, and IMV a shortcoming Enom continually push their ID protect services and, in these constrained times it’s a great way of maximising earnings from a domain name. A big proportion of our Enom domains are sold with ID protect and it is a service very much appreciated by our clients. We make around $6 from each one we sell (more than we make on a domain sale) and that equates to many thousands of dollars a year across our business. As it’s possible to activate and administer through the Enom API, I’m sure it would be a great adtion to the Enom module.
scurrell
As it’s possible to activate and administer through the Enom API, I’m sure it would be a great adtion to the Enom module. 99% of our customers who use the ID protect service purchase at the same time as registering their domain, which is already catered for in WHMCS. Never had a single request to disable it.
sohouk
A lot of our clients do purchase IDP separately. We have been going a long time, and for a lot of that time ID protect wasn't available as an option so its a good income stream from lagacy domains. Now its becoming more popular, and when it occurs to them, or we nudge them by way of a sales drive we get new orders. But as its not set up in WHMCS automatically it has to be done manually. We don't get many people wanting to cease, but occasionally this arises.
WebHostingCanada
You can do this manually with some limited overhead. Simply add a separate ID Protect product within WHMCS. Once ordered, manually add ID Protect to that domain with Enom, then check off the ID Protect box for that domain in WHMCS and update its renewal price to current_price + id_protect_price. Note that AFAIK ID Protect renewals are not processed automatically (surprise!), so I also recommend adding an actionhook to add a to-do entry when an id-protect renewal is paid so that it may be processed manually as well. And yes, this whole process is time-consuming, annoying, and I'm still hoping it will be solved automatically by whmcs in the not too distant future. But it works like this for now.
D-Litz
I would also like to add that if a client/customer has ID protect enabled and they wish to place an order for an SSL Certificate, the order will sometimes fail if the Certificate authority can not verify the Domain whois info. I've had this happen a few times now.
sohouk
You can do this manually with some limited overhead. .... Quite a lot of overhead!! We have a vast numberof domains with ID protect at Enom so it's a major revenue source for us every time a domain is renewed at $10 a time : ) It is very limiting that WHMCS can't simply hook into Enom and update / change as needed the ID protect status. Previously we used AWBS which did work well with ID protect (which is why we sold so many).
bradisoft
Yes, i agreed this options must have om WHMCS!! because resellerclub and enom all have API for this, why not we develop it on? API of reseller can do it: http://manage.resellerclub.com/kb/answer/778 Edited September 11, 2010 by bradisoft
WebHostingCanada
Yes, +1 for ID Protect renewal automation with Enom (and other registrars too, if possible)
kevinmeaney
1. First log into web hosting Control Panel. 2. After indexing the page in Control panel, click on URL protect & Redirect icon located on the right-most side of the site management section. 3. In the password confined areas you will have to set a few options.
sohouk
Thats useful info, but in this case the ID Protect refers to the concealment from outsiders of the WHOIS information! : )
