As i have clients do i have to register with the data protection act?

I'm not sure:

The Act provides an exemption from notification for some organisations. The exemption is available for:

 

• organisations that process personal data only for:
  
  • staff administration (including payroll);
    
  • advertising' date=' marketing and public relations (in connection with their own business activity); and
    [*']accounts and records;

The last point in bold would seem to exempt you from registering. But again, I'm not an authority on the DPA.
