rldev
I am trying to transfer a domain for a client to our Enom reseller account. I have received no email from Network Solutions or Enom for that matter. How is this supposed to work?
bear
Typically, the losing registrar and the gaining registrar (in the case of Enom) send out notices asking if it's ok to transfer. These emails are sent to the registrant, and depending on the registrar, the admin contact. Enom's email usually comes first, within a few days (not always immediate). Once they get confirmation, notice is sent to NS to request release, triggering the email from them asking if the owner would like to allow it. . They, too, often take a day or three to send it. Once both parties get this response, and the name is unlocked, the transfer proceeds, taking up to 5 days or so.
rldev
So at no point does the reseller receive any notification? This makes things easy to forget and difficult to track.
easyhosting
So at no point does the reseller receive any notification? This makes things easy to forget and difficult to track. True if you check with all registrars, you are the reseller, you have no legal say in domains once these are registered, all registrar communications are sent to the registrant of the domain, nothing is sent to the reseller.
bear
So at no point does the reseller receive any notification? This makes things easy to forget and difficult to track. Typically the customer will contact us within a week's time if it hasn't gone through. They are then reminded of the process, and we look into the parts we have access to. It's possible to contact the registrar (yours) to inquire why something failed, and they will assist by telling you what went wrong, if it ever reached the gaining registrar. I know at least Enom does. Check the whois on the domain. Is it in the customers email? Did you mention to them that they should be hearing from NS and/or Enom? Did you tell them to forward those emails (if they aren't sure what to do) to you for action? Did you later ask them if they've seen any emails from either registrar? Did you check at NS to make sure the name was unlocked before starting? Did you have the EPP code from NS to facilitate the transfer?
