perius
Hi everyone, I gleefully signed up to the free Enom Reseller account yesterday after seeing the annoucement by WHMCS especially as they are quoted as saying there are no hidden fees. I signed up for the reseller, set up the API in WHMCS. I Got my IP set up with ENOM directly. So far so good. Tested domain purchases LIVE (not with a test account, I know it works), and I get an error in the admin: "error: Purchase price is greater than available balance". After a bit of research, it turns out that I have to put down a minimum of $100 with Enom so that I have a positive balance to play with. Am I missing something, or am I on the right track? WHMCS have pretty much led me astray by saying there are 'no hidden costs'. I was kinda expecting the cost of the sale to cover the expenses in my Enom account. Can anyone please provide me with advice? Thank you.
easyhosting
No you are correct, you need a working balance of $100 in the enom account.
HostOrca
The selling price you charge goes to you via your gateway (ie paypal, googlecheckout etc), not direct to enom. So you need a "balance" with enom in order for them to charge you their fee.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted April 1, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted April 1, 2010 To receive $8.95 pricing direct from eNom would cost $3975! By signing up with us you've avoided this fee. The $100 minimum topup is only for payments via PayPal and Credit Card. There is no minimum via bank transfer or cheque.
jgage
If you want become a registrar, I believe ICANN charges like $10,000 just to apply. and they are strict so if you goof up one little thing, $10g's down the drain. So I guess if you look into it, a $100 minimum deposit isnt too bad.
GeorgeAppiah
To receive $8.95 pricing direct from eNom would cost $3975! By signing up with us you've avoided this fee. I do appreciate your offer, but let's bear in mind that the $3975 is a DEPOSIT, and not a "fee". Optionally one can pay an actual "fee" (ie non-deposit) of $995... which is still still a lot of money anyway.
ninak
If you use the mail in option for filling your account, you do not have to send $100. You can send in a minimum of 8.95 to cover one domain. (be sure to put your user name on the check or money order.) If you refill using a credit card or PayPal a small fee is charged. There are two addresses for mail in payments. One is for Overnight mail and the other is for normal delivery (usually gets to your account in about 4 to 6 days.)

Think of it like filling your glass, then taking sips as you register a domain.
