Hello,

i own my own hosting company and i have just started. I think it should be cheaper. Or you could have like 100 accounts for about $8.00 or unlimited accounts $15.

Please vote on it.

If your running a proper business even a start up then the WHMCS fees are hardly noticeable when you think about the actual costs of servers etc WHMCS doesn't even factor into our budget, we spend more on coffee!

If you can not afford the already cheap price that whmcs charges now, then I have a suggestion for you, get out of the hosting business, as if you can not afford whmcs, then you certainly can not afford all the other expenses that you need to pay out for.

if he wants cheap then he should go for PHPhostBot which is a one off payment but does not have all the features as WHMCS

Nope. I think WHMCS is an incredible system at a hard to believe and not afford price.

 

Maybe make it more expensive and make it even better Too many people have WHMCS. Already looks like everyone went shopping at the same outlet store.

I think the pool is not stupid... every question can at least give people a chance to say what they think about something.

 

In my case I totally forgot how much I pay for whmcs...

I started using it for free with a reseller plan offered by some hosting company. After loving it for a few weeks I went with the unbranded version paying a few bucks each month...

 

Now I can't live without it, and every 6 months or less Matt is still able to surprise us with amazing features...

 

I used other systems before and they were at the same price or higher but really worst than WHMCS, I was affected by the Modernbill V5 nightmare... I loved the Modernbill team and I feel sorry for what happened to them...

It's not a stupid idea, it's just that many who use the product see the incredible value in it, and find the price reasonable. I personally think that offering licenses based on the number of users has little point for me, but I can see how someone might want to save a little money with limited licensing like MB used to do.

I don't think that small, however.

I plan to keep growing my businesses, and not having to worry about my billing system needing constant watching is an amazing relief, one that I gladly paid for with WHMCS. I own one license, and rent another, and don't regret the money spent on it for a moment.

Yes i agree, good value for money and their reseller plans works like a resler plan should, not like others such as CE for 3 USD more than a single licence you could get 5 licences as a reseller, which does not seem to compute correct

If anything, WHMCS should be more expensive, not less. It has saved me an incredible amount of work, worth much more than the $300 or so I paid for the owned license. Given that my business depends on it, I hope WHMCS charges enough to build some savings for a bad day. Continuity is very important.

 

To the OP: Running a business is not just about your product, though many make that mistake when they dream up their business plan. Billing, provisioning and support are just as essential.

Correct, the amount of WHMCS hosts that dont have anything in thier knowledgebase (which to me is a vital support feature) and i have lost count on how many so called hostsa not knowing anything about DNS etc.

WHMCS is an excellent product. Let's put it this way, you could spend literally hundreds of thousands of dollars with a billing system such as Parallels Business Automation (No joke, we were quoted on more then $250,000) and you will still find that WHMCS is the better billing system *by far*.

 

Come on, for $300 you can't even pay for a Windows Server license - and that only serves one client. Matt does a lot of fine work on this billing system, and it is well worth every single penny you will spend on it. If you really think about it, if you have 300 clients, that is only $1 a client and you own WHMCS.

 

Did I mention the support is free, and there is a fantastic community here of people who will help you out if you have an issue. Plus, I don't think there is *ANY* other billing system around that will have > 50 developers writing modules for it.

I don't think its a stupid question either; in fact I was going to ask the same question myself once or twice!

 

I don't own a hosting business, but I run my own hosting server which is used by friends and family (about 5 accounts @ $24/yr). As you can see WHMCS costs more per year then I make. I used to come to this forum and envy everyone who could afford WHMCS, but I couldn't for my small purpose.

 

At the time I was thinking it would be great if WHMCS would come with a 10 account limit for free and then pay to increase the account limit. Perfect for those of us who don't own a prosperous hosting business.

 

Of course, now its not an issue for me because I can afford the small monthly cost.

Shoot even the monthly payment is cheap < $20 for the leased no branding license. Why would anyone think WHMCS is to much for what you get.

I used to create accounts manually after payments using my own custom payment system.

 

I first used whmcs on a reseller free license, i used it for about a 6 months on that license and changed hosts so i needed to get another license.

 

I did get one, its not unbranded at the moment but will be soon.

 

 

Just a note, i noticed some people saying that its starting to look like everybody bought from the same outlet.

 

Well it does because they did. WHMCS is reliable, and does everything you need for running your business. but more to the point i was aiming at.

 

If your website looks like a basic outlet, (lets face it not everybody know how to code) then you should employ a coder that can build your custom template for whmcs.

 

The client area and indeed the back end are able to be customised, if you want to play about and test on a development copy yourself before taking it live i would suggest getting your host to provide one of their free licenses for this purpose if they provide free licenses.

 

Failing that you can always contact whmcs who provide a custom integration service, tell them what you want they tell you the price.

Well actually no it doesnt, Look at it this way, If it was cheaper they would get more clients willing to buy it. this isnt always good though. If the price was lowered then there would certainly be more threshold for people using it that dont know what they are doing.

 

remember they work on the coding until release, its not like they have to custom write each and every copy they sell, after release that version is ineffect finished then follows whatever updates may be required or desired for that version

 

The work is basically done the moment they release a version.

 

My personal preference however, I have an owned license, i am happy with what i paid for it, the cost was covered by my business so the pricing was negligable in comparison to the features it opens up to me. If your a startup then you really need to go with one of the many hosts that provide free licenses, usually they can only be used on their service, but if your not planning on moving servers for a while as i suggest you dont then this wont be a problem.

 

Slighty off topic -> remember your running a business a whois lookup that resembles the globe will not provide a proffesional image for your business. If you have a new domain with 10 whois databases marked on it, then its a clear sign that.

 

A, your business is new

B. You dont own your own servers.

C. Your ability to run a business is flawed because you dont plan for the future
