Importing Customer accounts from Directi/Resellerclub

Am I correct in thinking the following...

Even if you did add the customers into WHMCS, if they each hve a different Resellerclub customer ID you wouldnt be able to perform any actions on these domains anyway?

You'd first need to unlock the domains in the Resellerclub interface and use the "Move Services" option to move them into the customer account set up in the WHMCS config?

We have just short of 4000 resellerclub domains and I cant see any way that we would be able to use them with WHMCS - they all have their own customer ID's.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The only thing I can think of would be to ask Directi if they would perform some kind of bulk action on all the domains and move them into one account for us.

Thanks John,

So in WHMCS when connecting via the API to change the contact details or whatever, the reseller login is used, rather than the individual resellerclub customer login?

That would seem sensible to me.

In AWBS, with each new domain order, the customer is created on the resellerclub site and a password is generated. So every customer has a resellerclub customer ID and password stored in their contact details. When the user performs actions like changing nameservers or updating contact details, I believe it is those credentials that are used.

It certainly causes problems when moving domains between accounts in the billing system because a different customer ID is associated with the domain, so if you move a domain into a different AWBS account then the customer tries to change the nameservers - it fails.

What I think you are saying is with WHMCS, you get around that by not specifying the customer ID - you must be saying that the master reseller login can make changes to the domains via the API by just specifying the domain name. Therefore the method used by AWBS is totally pointless.

Can you clarify this please. Its important for me to know that we can move all these domains over without losing functionality.

Yup that's pretty much it.

Can you please clarify the following for me....

1. If we import all our Resellerclub domains into WHMCS using the AWBS importer - they will be automatically set up in WHMCS to use your resellerclub module for managing and renewing - we wont need to make any manual changes to any of the domains?

2. Despite all these domains having their own resellerclub accounts - this association is not required in WHMCS and we dont have to move all the domains within resellerclub into a single account - because the API connects using the reseller details, not any particular account login.

3. For all new Resellerclub domain registrations, one account must be created in Resellerclub to be used as the "master" customer account and this will be used by WHMCS for this purpose - but these details are not used by the API when managing or renewing the domains?

Thanks for your time.
