WHMCS as an Accounting package

Magik

Question

Hi All,

Is it possible to use WHMCS as a full accounting package? I know I can manage all billing and product sales via it, even non web hosting related services. I was hoping that I could also use it to track expenses as well as tax. It would create a better integrated solution for my accounting/finance management.

Thank and look forward to hearing from some of you.

B.

I've been a WHMCS user for more then a year with two separate businesses.

I've been searching high and low for an online Quickbooks replacement that integrates smoothly with WHMCS.

So far, mixed results.

I think WHMCS should re-evaluate adding a full accounting system to their platform but maybe provide it as a stand-alone add-on that is hosted by them so they can secure and tweak it.

They're missing out on a huge revenue stream of us who would choose to handle all financial matters with one tool if it were possible.

I tried to work form the other direction and find a good accounting system with a billing replacement for WHMCS, but that search was fruitless as well.

Yeah sorry, WHMCS isn't for accounting but there has been quite a bit of interest in this. A reason of why Matt should look into this field a little and opening WHMCS to yet more markets. Did wonders for the company's bottom line when Matt released the Multi Currency feature and Licensing Addon.

sorry to hear that whmcs cant do accounting :?. i thought when it has the other products option , and so many great features it should calculate expenses too.

i`m still trying to see if i can manage my works with it . :(

i am reselling bandwidth. i have many costumers who must pay reoccuring type , and also prorota function is a great solution for me . but i want whmcs to calculate my pure income.

let me explain, i buy product1 , from person A , for example 10 $ ,

and i sell it to person B , for 15 $ , so pure income is 5 $ for me here.

person B must login to my site , choose product 1 and buy it . till here every thing is fine ,

but how can i calcluate the amount that i have bought from person A,

because i pay person A only when i sell products . and it is not like a server that i buy it monthly and sell it any price i want.

i have thought of using amount out option in invoices manually per invoice. but it reduces the credit from what my customers had paid. so it is wrong i think for my purpose.

because i dont want my customer see the price that i buy , or they should not see some price reduced from their account for something undefined.

then i thought of adding some hiddeng products with the price of what i buy from person A and with (-) negative prices.and manually add every thing that i sell , to this for person A.

i am looking to see if there is a way that it can work for me .

wish i explained clearly and sorry because im not a native eng speaker .:|

any solutions would be appreciated so that i can use whmcs too :D

Same here, I just use QuickBooks and do a import...

I personally would rather run a package that I host myself. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of this. Perhaps one day, should I have free time, I'll look into what might be required to integrate WHMCS with LedgerSMB.

I don't think WHMCS should provide full accounting facilities but rather link in with existing systems. KashFlow is ok but doesn't handle multiple currencies. Xero.com looks to be a far superior solution. I just wish WHMCS had an official module to link in with it.

Full accounting apps that cover a range of businesses take forever to build, there is so much code to write to make a package do everything of something like a Quickbooks. This is too big of a project in general for this type of application to attempt to become. The other problem is you can end up spending a year+ on development and not ending up with what you thought, and it ends up being wasted time. You really need a lot of people and a lot of money to do this kind of thing.
