WHMCS will send an invoice, client clients the PayPal Subscribe button, they are taken to PayPal website to enter their account details, then they are returned to your website.

I don't believe a subscription can be created without a PayPal account, but you'd need to contact PayPal to confirm.

The purchaser has to have a PayPal account for creation of a subscription service or to pay by echeck but they do hot have to have an account to just use a credit or debit card.

You can set up in your PayPal account if you want to accept credit card payments from people that do not have an account with PayPal.

When a subscription is set up, no invoice goes out to the person but PayPal automatically bills them for you (takes the money from there account) and puts this into our account. You should get a notification from PayPal when the money is in your account. (Depends how you have your API set up)
