Zash
I'm debating whether or not it's worth to get SSL for my web host's client area. I mean, let's see, it's not like the client actually puts any really important information into my client area... The only times that info like a credit card or details like that is required is on the actual PayPal/AlertPay pages, and those sites have SSL certificates for themselves. So do I need an SSL? How does it actually help?
thehost5968
Just go with a cheap RapidSSL From Enom for about $11.00 /y if you are a Enom reseller or a RapidSSL for about $20 to 30.00 if you are not a Enom Reseller? your client will want to see it.
scurrell
So do I need an SSL? Depends how much you care about your customers. If you don't care about them, then no, you don't need an SSL.
Zash
Depends how much you care about your customers. If you don't care about them, then no, you don't need an SSL. But I don't understand what an SSL has anything to do with that? It's not like they are submitting any important information into my client area...
thehost5968
Ok put it like this just ask your client. Do your client not update there details within your client area and if not it is just good business to have one. If you still do not understand still then just do a google of "WHY USE A SSL"
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted October 19, 2009 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted October 19, 2009 (edited) Their name, address, email address, answers to security questions etc. All this information could be intercepted on an unencrypted password and used to reset a password for online banking or Amazon. All sorts of purchases could then be made without their knowledge, the client wouldn't have any recourse through their bank because their password was reset. Also the cPanel password is visible, with this information a fraudster could easily gain access to their email address, making resetting passwords for every other website the client is a member of a doddle. So for the sake of $12 it's definitely worth it! Edited October 19, 2009 by WHMCS John

mylove4life
Ok, not to add frames to the fire, but if you have to ask if a SSL is worth it, please do some homework before offering hosting to anyone.
