I want to buy but am not sure what WHMCS provides!

Question

I'm intrigued about WHMCS and want to know a little more before I sign up with my hosting company.

My biggest problem: I forget to send invoices to customers. :(

If I can have an automated solution that every year sends out an invoice, that would be great. If no payment is received - then the customers account is suspended unless they pay or I manually put their domain back temporarily.

1. Is this what WHMCS will allow me to do?

2. Can I take payments for invoices I raise?

How do I integrate with my payment backend?

To be honest, I'd only ever use Paypal - but if I did want to, can I have working with another gateway like Worldpay or something?

3. £'s? I see it's all in $'a. Can I have my display currency be in £'s?

4. Tax? Can I change what the tax level charged is?

AND, if I don't want to have tax mentioned, can I also do this?

5. Let's say a customer doesn't pay and their hosting is suspended. Is there a facility where I can reinstate the domain BUT only have it reinstated for a fixed time - after which, if they have not paid, then their account is suspended again?

6. Also, where is the software hosted? Is it hosted by my hosting company?

Thanks

Yes

WHMCS has modules to integrate with many payment gateways including paypal and worldpay

3. £'s? I see it's all in $'a. Can I have my display currency be in £'s?

You can have any currency you want, even multiple currencies

4. Tax? Can I change what the tax level charged is?

Yes

Not 100% sure on that one, but i imagine with a mod or 2 it would be possible

6. Also, where is the software hosted? Is it hosted by my hosting company?

You host it yourself

Hope this helps you

thanks for the reply

when u say "with a mod or 2" - do i have access to the actual source code?

what i have available is to be able to add it to the server i have at my hosting company

would i have access to the source code if that was the case?

how do you guys protect your software in that case?

someone could sign up for one month and take all the software :)

i'm sure it's not that easy!

let me know

thanks

You don`t have access to the source code, just the template system, which is pretty much enough for some basic edits and extensions.

You also have access to a hook system, which means, when the script does certain operations, you can add your own functions to run at that time.

You could use the Override suspension feature for this; the account will remain active until a date you specify.
