Questions about v3.8 to v4 upgrade

TruMan1

Question

I currently have version 3.8 and I'm interested in upgrading to version 4, but I have a couple questions first.

1.) Is there a "billable time" feature yet in version 4?

2.) Also, how easy is it to upgrade... will my product addons, invoices, settings, etc all be retained?

3.) Also how much is the upgrade coming from v3.8?

Thanks for any help or advice.

Thanks for the answers.

But I could not find anything in the demo or documentation about billing customers by time. Such as bill customers once for a block of 10 hours, then deduct time from that block everytime they call in or send a support ticket. Can this be done?

Hi,

You could use credit to achieve that. In other words, what you are doing is accepting prefunding and then when time is used you would issue invoices to the customer for that time and apply credit to the invoice to pay it.

For actual time billing, when replying to a ticket or from a clients profile, you can add entries called billable items to record the time you've spent working and then have those invoiced on the users next invoice, the next day, or on a presecheduled date in the future.

Sounds good, thanks.

One more question about the upgrade... do I have to do incremental upgrades to get my version up the latest 4.0.2? In other words, do I have to upgrade my v3.8 to v4.0, then to v4.0.1, then to v4.0.2? Or can I upgrade directly from v3.8 to v4.0.2?
