Luke Conley
Hello, we were having problems with our WHMCS errors popping up about jpgs and pdfs, so I reuploaded the entire WHMCS directory and now it says "down for maintenance mode" on every directory. i thought it might've been because I uploaded v4.0.0 without the v4.0.1 update, so i uploaded that and no good. i've got a backup of the database from when I uploaded v4.0.0 again it said please take a backup before upgrading. is there a setting in MySQL database to disable the maintenance mode or anything? thanks.
DedicatedPros
That's not maintenance mode (at least not the one you enable in the admin area), that's an error caused by a bad installation of WHMCS (the script can't connect to the MySQL database most likely). You will have to go through the install process again.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted August 31, 2009 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted August 31, 2009 It means the version of the files you have uploaded don't match the version of the database. They need to be the same otherwise you will see this error.
DCH
I could use help with this as well. When attempting an upgrade - I backed up the database - then renamed the WHMCS installation directory. So when I extracted the new version directly on the server, it did NOT affect the files of the old installation. Long story short, the upgrade kept failing. I then nuked the database, and created a new blank one of the same name. Then restored the backup to that empty DB - thus reverting it back to the database before the upgrade. Next, I nuked the new WHMCS installation directory. Then renamed the backed up WHMCS installation directory to make it active again. Now - I can not login to the admin area and only see the "Down For Maintenance" message. Though - at this point, I am using the same installation and same database as before the attempted upgrade. any ideas?
DCH
I think I got this working.... The installation looks ok, as well as the data. But here's what I ended up doing - normally when I'm supposed to delete an install directory, I will move it to a secure location so I have it on the server if ever needed. I simply moved it back and ran the install again. It threw a bunch of errors about tables already existing, and duplicate tables. However, I can now access the admin area again. Still looking over the database though...
