elfsoup
HI, I have looked at a million control panels.. For now I'm trying to figure out what would be the best control panel to use with Whmcs. Something that works really good with WHMCS and of course cheap as I want to it for shared hosting customers. (lynx) Any help with this would be awesome.
DataHosts
I have used Plesk, cPanel, and Ensim cPanel / WHM is the best on the market IMO. Plesk is nice but lacks in my opinion. Ensim...well....as I said cPanel / WHM is my favorite.
scurrell
cPanel / WHM is the best on the market IMO. For linux, agreed.
elfsoup
I use plesk now, and yes you're right it does lack somewhat. Cpanel is just not that cheap. And what I'm trying to do is have something cheap for my cheap shared hosting cutomers. I will take a look at Ensim. I just see so many of them, but I also wanted to go with something that works well with WHMCS.. Thanks guys..
Stream101
cPanel for linux for sure is the most affordable (in my case) and is the easiest for people to use.

It will payout in the long run, and a monthly license is only 33USD from a good reseller

Stream101
33? We pay $15.00/Month for our cPanel license from our Datacenter.
DedicatedPros
33? We pay $15.00/Month for our cPanel license from our Datacenter. That's an internal license, very different from an external and typically its about 2-3 times cheaper. ...such as? http://www.instantcpanellicense.com/specials/
Stream101
Ahh...I see now!
DedicatedPros
Ahh...I see now! Though I wish OVH (my host) decided to lower their license costs, a cPanel license costs 29.99EUR with VAT included ($43).
Stream101
That is terrible...They are paying like 5 bucks for it.
DedicatedPros
That is terrible...They are paying like 5 bucks for it. Yeah, they are the second largest host in Europe (biggest in France) and they won't lower the price. Its cheaper to get an external license, which is very bad for OVH
elfsoup
Alright I'm still a little confused. Cpanel seems to be the way to go, this I got.. But on a single server that I want to use just for shared what type of license should I get.
DedicatedPros
Alright I'm still a little confused. Cpanel seems to be the way to go, this I got.. But on a single server that I want to use just for shared what type of license should I get. If my post about the internal and external license confused you, I apologize Technically the licenses offer the same cPanel, its just that an internal license you get from your data center/server provider which is usually cheaper than getting an external license, which is the same license but from an external source (such as a a reseller or directly from cPanel). With an external license you can choose what server to assign the license to, but with an internal you cannot (so that you don't use your providers license with a server from another provider). I hope that cleared things up (if it didn't, check with your provider how much he charges for cPanel, if its less than 33USD per month, get his license, if its more than 33USD; get a license from the reseller I mentioned before).
elfsoup
Got ya, thank you for your time. Well I have a few of my own servers now in place in a data center, but I wanted to keep them as VP's and dedicated. But I wanted to use one of them just for shared hosting. But then I see other companies like host gator with a reseller plan with cplanel for like $25. complete per month. It just seems cheaper to use them for my shared. So I think anyway. Just trying to start this off right. Something to get them in the door per say.. Thanks again...
dkent
Just whatever you do, don't go getting H-Sphere! It's the most expensive one out there, costing about $2 per "end user" account (your client). So basically if you have 100 clients each using H-Sphere as their hosting control panel, it's going to cost you an arm and a leg (and possibly your head!). Great control panel, but there's just no point in using it as cPanel is the industry standard, and everyone knows how to use it. But boy, H-Sphere is kinda sweet.
elfsoup
Thanks you guys.. Yea I use to use Cpanel my self all the time. But a few years back I went with a dedicated and they told me Plesk has a much lower over head so I went with Plesk but just for my self. It's nice for the most part. But who really has the time to teach someone how to use it. Yea Cpanel seems to be the better choice for shared at least. I will be getting cpanel later today.. I know it's like 20. per month but does that cover unlimited users and domains ?
DedicatedPros
Yes, cPanel only offers the unlimited license (which is why I'm using Plesk now ).
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted August 17, 2009 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted August 17, 2009 I must say I do prefer performing installations on cPanel servers than any other control panel.
elfsoup
Yea I didn't have time today but I will sometime VERY soon install Cpanel for at least my shared. One thing I'm still a little confused about is, what type of license from cplanel do I need to use cpanel on a single server for shared hosting..
