Moving WHMCS from current directory

Are there any links to edit?

Is the root where most people keep whmcs?

It doesn't change the functionality if it's in root as opposed to a directory. It really depends on how you have your website set up.

While you're moving it, it's a good idea to change the name of the containing directory as well as the admin directory. There's a few threads in the forums about security measures that explain how and why. Just remember to reissue your license (in the WHMCS main site) after you've made these changes.
