Paul
Hey everyone, I recently acquired a hosting company which uses WHMCS and I'm still trying to get used to the business logic that makes WHMCS tick. (And by the way, if anyone has some documentation or links on how to make the most of WHMCS and its logic flow, I'd really appreciate that). One interesting thing that I noticed with this hosting company is that the previous owner didn't delete customers with fraud orders. He told me that he keeps the customers marked as "fraud" so that they couldn't reattempt to re-order with the same email, IP, or information. Isn't this redundant since Maxmind would mark the new order as fraudulent? What do you guys think about this and how do you deal with this? Do you delete the custom accounts as soon as fraud is detected or just leave them hanging around the database? Thanks!
IPH - Tim
We actually leave them in the database for the exact reason the pervious owner of your hosting company did. It takes next to no disk space to keep them and you can refer to them if need be. Just mark them as closed and you won't even know they are there as they wont appear in your active client list. Thats my two cents. I'll be interested in seeing what others have to say.
redrat
I'm inclined to agree with the advice to just keep them. As has been said, they take up very little space and can be tucked neatly away. There is no issue with deleting them either though. I guess it's simply a matter of preference since the pros and cons are pretty evenly balanced.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted August 7, 2009 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted August 7, 2009 You might want to keep them in the system as Closed, because it will prevent them from using that email address to signup again....Not a massive hurdle for a determined fraudster, but every little helps.
scurrell
Also, if you delete the customer, you delete the cancelled invoices, and accountants don't like to see missing invoice numbers.....
