[FIXED] Not able to buy hosting when domain already registered

Recommended Posts

The case:

The customer registered a domain via whmcs a few days ago.

Now he wants to buy web hosting for it.

All 3 options about the web hosting account domain will not work.

The resonable is that the customer will select the plan, then will select that he has a domain, which he will point to the server.

WHMCS will not let him buy the web hosting plan and will complain, that he has to cancel the domain firstly and then register it while getting the space:

The domain you entered is already registered with us - you will need to cancel it prior to placing a new order.

Customer should be able to buy the plan and an account should be made on cPanel (or whatever panel) for it, with the previously registered domain.

I hope it makes sense.

In WHMCS Admin/Setup/General settings/Ordering tab see and see if that helps.

Yes, that is correct. However. Because of exactly what spyrosvl we had to untick that box which creates another problem. ie, our set up now allows customers to place orders for domains which already exist and which fail to get set up on the server. WHMCS should be picking this up.

SOLUTION: WHMCS should allow customers to place HOSTING ORDERS for domains which do not have a HOSTING ACCOUNT - and ignore checking the domains field when checking for duplicates when it runs the rationale when the box is ticked.

ie, you can't register a domain which is registered anyway (globally, and by globally I mean worldwide).

Simple terms: WHMCS should not be checking the registered domains field and blocking hosting or other product orders using that domain.
