exia
Hi, I currently use paymate.com however i'm having alot of issues with them. For starters they don't report the fee back to WHMCS so I have to do it manually once a day. And users have to leave our website to make the final payment. I'm now looking at a company called eway.com.au to process the payments as they are alot cheaper. If I want to make it so the payment are based off the credit card details we have for the user in our system would rather than the user having to go to another website to pay. Would eway.com.au do this? If not can anyone else recommend an Aus company that would? Thanks.
Damo
eway.com.au certainly does this. Along with eway.com.au you'll need to get a credit card merchant facility with a bank. Eway can help you organise that if you don't have a relationship with any bank at the moment.
exia
Hi Damo, Our bank is St George, do you think i should give them a call, or should I give eway a call? Little lost with the process at the moment. Cheers,
sparky
I am just changing over at the moment as I also have had enough of PayMate and PayPal. As Damo said you will need a merchant account as well. I have done a little shopping around and have found Westpac to be the cheapest. I'm not sure if I am aloud to post prices here on it (@Bear - Please edit out the pricing if not allowed) NAB and Commenwealth Both seem to be too lazy to get back to me with a quote after a week and a half. St George Establishment Fee- $150.00 + GST = $165.00 Monthly Access Fee- $30.00 + GST = $33.00 Annual Participation Fee- $40.00 + GST = $44.00 Merchant Service Fee- 1.40% + GST = 1.54% Westpac Establishment Fee- $0.00 inc GST Monthly Access Fee- $22.00 inc GST Annual Participation Fee- $22.00 inc GST Merchant Service Fee- 1.50% inc GST Chargeback Fee- $33.00 inc GST So far with westpac minimum per month is $44.00 + % Transaction Fee eWay's basic pack starts at $350 per year + .50c per transaction If you put their logo on your site for the first year you can get $100 off so thats down to $250/year + .50c/transaction. In Total Monthly for the first year minimum $64.83 + (1.5% + .50c per transaction) Then each year after that is minimum $73.16 + (1.5% + .50c per transaction) Hope that helped you out a little. Oh... and Westpac classifies digital downloads or services as a product where most dont. eg... PayPal - Item/Product must be a physical Item that is sent to a physical address. (Just had a huge arguement with them and about to can them completly (this time hopefully for good)).
exia
Hrmmm, We already have our bank account with ST George so id prefer to stick with them, plus I cant stand westpac... well i guess they are the same company now Thanks for your help though, I guess ill be contacting the back tomorrow.
Damo
I've had my merchant account with Westpac for 9.5 years but know a few businesses using St.George and eWay without an issue. As you already have a relationship with St.George you should be able to negotiate a good rate. Interestingly enough with Westpac they "require" you to subscribe to Verified by Visa and the Secure3D for Mastercard to enable online transactions. eWay charge a premium for this service and WHMCS doesn't support it. It took a little push with our bank contact but we didn't need to subscribe to it in the end. To me it seemed like a bit of a bully tactic - in 9.5 years we've not had a single charge back or dispute - I think our own vetting process works well enough
exia
One thing I would LOVE the system to do is automatically calculate credit card fee's and add it to the transaction. The same way that paypal does. The reason for this is that im currently using Paymate and they dont report back to the WHMCS the transaction fee, and 50% of the time it doesnt even mark the dam invoice as "paid" Has anyone had any issues with eway in this respect? I know that eway charge one fee (50c per transaction) plus the actual banks amount. Is this something that Eway will automatically report back to WHMCS? Or am I going to be stuck with doing it manually still?
Damo
eWay will report a success or fail on the transaction accordingly. The amount is for the product/service being charged and doesn't include their fee to you (i.e. the 50c). The eWay gateway was very simple to setup and so far we've experienced no issues with it. I have even done a few manual payments via eWay and recorded the transaction in WHMCS when I didn't want it done automatically. I've personally never been a fan of either PayMate or PayPal as a payment processor. I believe that legitimate business should take more control of it's merchant banking and use a merchant facility directly linked to the financial institution.
exia
So it does add the transaction fee to the invoice? Eg the eway fee AND the bank fee? I hope so as this is one of the biggest issues I have at the moment.
Damo
NO. It doesn't add the eWay fee OR the bank fee. They're fees that you pay as the merchant - not the client. If you want to cover these costs then include them in your margin when you set your prices.
