Witholding auth codes for non paying clients

Hi guys,

Just a quick one. We have a client who signed up for a 12 month contract with us, and is now wanting to leave early, and has refused to pay what is owed.

They have given loads of excuses to try and buy time so they can move their stuff (including domains) away from us.

We have now obviously shut their servers off, but they are still trying to buy time with crappy excuses while they transfer there domains away from us.

We are thinking of witholding the auth codes until we reach a resolution on the payment side of things....

What's your opinions on doing this?

Yes but if you have renewed the domain on their behalf but they have not paid you for it it would be very easy to argue that the domain is not theirs as it has not been paid for...

Of course if you have paid for a renewal without receiving funds from the client then that would be fairly foolish but I digress ;)

Then the domain is irrelevant in this case as money is not owed on the domain.

If they are refusing to pay for the dedis then you can only try and claim the money through the legal system as long as your contract holds up.

This is why we bill dedis thirty days in advance and don't set them up until they have been paid in full...
