How to set up Reseller Club - ResellerClub.com

Hello all. I'm a bit new here and confused about a few things regarding domain reselling through ResellerClub.com. I have been a reseller through them for some time but not through WHMCS.

First, ResellerClub domain module and Directi. In another thread, I read:

On DirectI configuration you have a field where you put your Customer ID, so all new domains will be assigned to this specific id and resellerclub will create new users for each domain registered.

I simply don't understand. I've searched all over google and this forum to find the answers as to setting up resellerclub but haven't found it. I do know that I wouldn't use resellerclub before because of the interface and the confusion of purchasing domain names for myself as my own customer.

Anyway, the wiki really doesn't explain anything so if someone could update it on how to effectively set up this module, it would be fantastic. Here are a couple questions:

  • I want my customers to be able to manage their domain through WHMCS and not necessarily go to the domain name associated with the supersite. How do I do it and how does it work?
  • Seems that the directi module has disappeared leaving only the resellerclub module which makes the quote above somewhat null? So how do we set this up?
  • Registerfly??? In the Wiki, it's listed that Registerfly is one of the modules that can be used. Is this true? Are you all aware that in Feb 2007 Registerfly lost their accreditation and domain prices were raise solely because of that debacle? Registerfly is regfly and they are a reseller for Tucows... and still ripping people off blind. I'll be happy to remove them from the wiki documentation... which leads me to my next question.... Why so many logins to use this site?
  • Last but not least, as a Resellerclub reseller, I have my reseller account that I signed up with. This is not a customer account, this is the primary account. Do I need to set up a reseller account for my business then use that ID number?

One question leads to another. Sorry about that. Mainly this thread is because I cannot find one that is up to date that explains this resellerclub module.

Thank you in advance for assistance and I'm glad I found this WHMCS software. Great stuff!

I'm sure everyone in the industry is aware of the regfly debacle, but it doesnt stop people having domains still with them, and therefore still needing the module to manage them ...

UM, NO. GoDaddy took over all their names outside of a court order for them to turn their names over to ICANN. When the rubber hit the road, they had no more domains to manage other than a few of their own or what used to be others.

So, to NEED that module to manage domain names with Registerfly who is not a Registrar and is simply a Tucows reseller... I'm not sure this is correct. Either way, there are new people everyday going to them and registering domain names and they are still doing what they always did so to have it here on this site, as this software supports domain management through Registerfly, is that not false? Considering Regfly.com cannot manage their own domains or their customers?

Oh yeah, and where is the Post Thank You hack?

I'll update the wiki article if no one beats me to it. But basically it sounds like you want to use the DirectI module in favour of the ResellerClub module.

Thanks. The WIKI is locked for me and it would be yet the 3rd registration for this site I'd have to fill out.

I tried the Directi module and it didn't work. I did however use the resellerclub module and didn't set up a customer but did manage to register a domain using my primary Administrator user login and the Parent ID. It actually created a user in the account for the Supersite but allows the member to manage and renew their domain name on WHMCS so that's all I wanted. Seems to work fine.

I think it should be noted that you can use the resellerclub module and turn off customer notification, login to RC, settings >> mail preferences >> tick the box to NOT send customer emails.

So you can still have seperate customer containers and use whmcs to manage rthem without customer getting email.

This is true, but the problem I am having is I have many customers already already are using the RC Super site. I would like to turn off emails altogether but I will need to move all the customers over to WHMCS. And that leads to another problem, some of my customers are using Domain Forwarding and it appears that my customers that have it cant manage Domain forwarding, yet (4.0??).

In the mean time I NEED to keep RC sending out emails, although I have stopped most of them, until I get all customers moved over and that want happen until at least stable WHMCS 4.0 when ever that will be.

So Maybe I should just use the Directi Plug for NEW domain registrations.

I believe that somewhere in resellerclub is a Tick box to turn off notification of new account setups (your clients). You may want to hunt that down and turn it off so new clients don't get emails about their Resellerclub accts

Once your logged into ResellersClub go here

(To control emails sent to your ResellerClub customers from RC Control Panel)

Settings > Mail Preferences See attached screen shot.
