Well it looks like he has encoded every file and has abandoned the code and since its obviously broken I will have it decoded and updated including the built-in instructions that are completely wrong as well.

A note to the author.... maybe you don't care anymore or to busy but people here have been having issues with this addon since the 4.X release of WHMCS This is one of the best addons out there for registrars and you are ruining it for everyone.

Not a wise choice... You had better contact the author

Not a wise choice... You had better contact the author

I have and got no reply. Sent him a PM as I mentioned in the post.

The only file I decoded was utilities.php anyways which held the wrong info on how to edit your templates.

Second the way I decoded was through the rendered source and modified it. Nothing illegal about that.

If the author cared he would have corrected or at least answered people that were having trouble and he never did -- so far all help has come from people like me and lanquest and we are just users.

I have updated the the file utilities.php, which holds the info about how to edit your template files, and added a new image file showing the drop down menu.

I see no point in having this file encoded as the instructions could change in future upgrades of WHMCS.

If anyone wants it please let me know.

It is as complete as it is going to be for the moment, there have been a few requests for some additions and I have long term plans to add a few things but I do not believe I will have the time to get that done anytime soon.

In its current form it does not expire.

One note is that it was originally meant for v3 and there are a few things that people have already mentioned in this thread about placement of certain code but it still does work.

I myself have not upgrade to v4 yet so I do not have a new download to go with it. When I finally do upgrade to v4 I will post a new download with the changes that need to be made.

Gustave

You posted this -- you said this is the best it was going to get. So others have done what you refused to do and you posted this on Feb 2008 and since then you have ignored everyones help.

Explain why you are refusing to fix a broken addon you created for 2 years ? Then you get to upset when users step in to fix it ?

I'll restate the facts here....

1) In Feb 2008 you posted you won't do anything else on it.

2) WHMCS has been at V4 for 2 years

3) The instructions you admit are for V3 and people have been needing help and you have ignored it. Only lanquest has taken the time here to try and post correct instructions for V4.

4) I update utilities.php from decoded firefox browser source *which isn't illegal* for V4

5) Now you are mad at me

nice

The updated files are at https://www.borgnet.net/clients/downloads/3/WHMCS-addons

I have not violated any copyright laws nor any other claims that n2972s might post.

The zip file contains only 2 files.... utilities.php and menuaddon.png

The file menuaddon.png only shows the what the new version looks like under V4 and utilities.php is source directly from Firefox and opening up the source window.

De-coding was done legally and no decoding software was ever used.

If n2972s (Gustave) has any problems he should blame himself for providing no help and no corrections on his website concerning V4 changes.

All,

This script has been taken down until I decide what to do with it, for those that have been and still need my help contact me via PM and email and I will provide whatever assistance I can offer.

I know I may have missed a few emails or PM's over the past but I do not believe there have been that many.

For those of you that have helped via this forum post I am grateful for your assistance with the other members that have used this venue to seek help.

lanquest has spelled out exactly what you need to do for v4 here.

v4 Template Updates

When I get PM's or emails on v4 I always point them to the above post for directions.

Regardless of what I decide to do, this mod will be back and available in due time.

The only courtesy that I ask is that if you want to distribute files for this script that you at least obtain my permission first. If I ask you to not distribute files, whatever they may be, that you honor that request.

Lame -- you cut off your nose to spite your face.:?

You have missed over a year of help posts and now you are offended that I took the initiative to fix it. Grow up.

This is why encoded files are a bad idea when authors refuse to fix it for 2 years. I don't care if it was free nor does anyone else that uses it. If you are going to offer it for free either update it as needed or simply delete it and stop wasting everyones time.

As I sated in a previous post here... this is a great addon only if the author updates it. Others have said the same.

Hello Guys,

I tend to agree more with sgrayban at the same time I do understand your point Gustave.

You have posted the addon and got great feedback. So natrualy this thread will be the first place people will use to contact you for help.

The last time you stepped in here to help was in your last post dated: 09-09-09, 12:15 AM and nothing has been entered from you since then and there have indeed been quite a few postings since then asking for help, so naturally it looks like you have abandoned the project.

Sgrayban had said a few days ago that he has PM'd you regarding making changes and received no response from you I assume.

Thus far you have left it up to the users to find ways of making this addon evolve.

Don't be too hard on the guy, he was only trying to help and do the right thing.

I thought this forum was about helping each other as a community. Within guide lines of course.

Perhaps I'm wrong.

Michael,

You are not wrong, in fact I agree… This turned out to be a good excuse to take the script down as it needed to come down long ago to update the template instructions. The update is solely on me and I am at fault for not doing it sooner. I also should have posted more here but I tend not to get to the forums as much and I have preferred to help when an email of PM notification makes it my way.

Regardless of all of that I am going to update the files and repost with the newest information. I also have a few updates ( nothing major ) that I should add anyway.

I meant to put up a page yesterday explaining that but I did not get that far, possibly this evening. Everyone can expect an updated download in a week or so.

Regarding being hard on him… he deserves some of the harshness. We have some history earlier in this thread. He is the same person last year that was complaining about encoded files and I believe he is just making another push on that effort. It does not bother me in the least that he does not care for me or that he makes multiple posts complaining about me. It is apparent we are never going to see eye to eye so there is no reason to fight it.

I did reply to his PM (the following day and unfortunately not as fast as he wanted) and told him not to decode the files and to not distribute them. He does not seem to want to respect my wishes in that regard.

Gustave,

I'm sure we are all looking forward to your updated release (with updated documentation may I add) as it would clear allot of things up especially for those not so savey PHP users out there (like me).

This addon is a great addition to WHMCS.

With all that said. "LET's get ready to Rummmmble!..." :D

Amen brother!

Hey Troy,

I'm not normally one to attack comments but I think that was below the belt. But you were agreeing with someone else's comment.

I can agree to your comment to a degree, but I think WHMCS do a great job and show direction in their development.

I think that comment was made (not your comment I know) without thinking about the extent of work involved and the lack of experience with application integration on your part.

Compared to the previous management system I was with, WHMCS "KISS"...

Remember this. It's with the help of people spending time on add-ons and suggestions made by this community/forum that makes a product successful and grow.

Encoded files are useless if you going to offer it for free and authors like you do not update them as needed. Trash me all you want but you know I am right and this *GOOD* addon is proof.

I am harsh on you because you are the author and you have failed everyone here. If you cannot accept that then maybe you need to re-examine your role here when providing a free addon. I bitched earlier to you for good reason about encoded files.

All everyone wanted was you to fix it. Editing the utilities.php file is not a big deal.

Lanquest I disagree with you in some respect, yes whmcs is good but there are basic features lacking while other new features added may only benefit a minority.

I don't expect whmcs to be as good as awbs with domains but i do expect basic required features like the ability to handle a domain transfer and handle dns functions. At the moment whmcs lets you add email forwarding to a domain but does not care that the domain is not using enoms default name servers nor does it allow the user to switch to enoms default.

look through the enom example php scripts I think the work involved to add these basic features is not that great. Personally I have just gone back to awbs as whmcs is useless with enom.

As a billing system it is the best there is but if you want to manage a lot of domains forget it.

I couldn't have said it better. I am not dissing WHMCS but it does lack a finesse when it comes to domain control for clients, the enom module is very basic and should really be expanded seeing the API's are there and this addon proves it.

However we are stuck with what is offered in WHMCS and almost everyone has to rely on addons to fill in the gaps. It's no big deal to me and in fact I would have paid to have this addon if that was the case because it is so valuable to our company.

Hey Gustave, sorry to rain on your thread here, but I cannot let this one go. ;)

So. I think we all agree then. As a billing system, it is highly regarded.

Well that's the first reason why most f us are all here really.

I'm no programmer but I can see that there are other aspects of the WHMCS product that requires brushing up but it also has to move along with lots of other companies out there that this product essentially relies on. As a business WHMCS has to contend with the likes of us where we are asking for more and more features and basic functions and on the other hand the other companies are doing the same in their field.

It's great that guys like Gustave "aka n2972s" are "filling the gaps" with the more basic functions, not to mention that it's free and it takes up their time outside of their own lives to support their add-ons.

Thinking about it in a more positive light.

Perhaps there should be a section on here that allows us as paying WHMCS users/customers vote for which add-ons are implemented into future releases. Then guys like Gustave "aka n2972s" would get the recognition they deserve.

Perhaps there would be more happy paying WHMCS users/customers out there.

I think at least THAT WOULD be a step in the right direction. So why are we talking about this here? (kidding) :)

Gustave. Let the games begin. Over to you matey..

The author took it down because he got mad.

What was that for? You are providing absolutely no value or substance to anything. I am asking you kindly to go and take your issues out on somebody else because this is starting to go too far.

Gustave
