Indizine
We're just in the middle of integration today, but whmcs have emailed to say that the usr/bib/crontabs permissions are wrong and need changing. Ok so i've gone into File Manager and i've been instructed by my host on how to change the settings, the problem im stuck on is, which file do I change permissions for? in File Manager I select public_html ...but then what do I select after that? There's a whole list of things each with a permission setting, but I just dont know which one to choose that is for usr/bin/crontabs permissions as non are labeled as such and i'm not familiar with this terminology I have asked thre guy at whmcs which file to change permissions for but he doesn't know as they are 'not server techs' - thing is, neither am I!! Thanks for any help on this!
chickendippers
It's not possible to access the usr directory in File Manager, you'll need to use an FTP client and navigate up to your root directory (most ftp clients will automatically cd to /home/cpanel_username. You need to look in /usr/bin).
Indizine
oh right that's odd because my hosting provider (who also uses whmcs) told me I could access tt through File Manager or FTP. He has even sent me a tutorial video to access through file manager.

Indizine
well I cant see it, but my hosting guy is deemed to be knowledge at what he does, not the type to dish out wrong info i wouldnt have thought. am using cPanel. anyway, in FTP, from root directory, I still cant see anything titled /usr/bin either.
othellotech
what is the *exact* message you are getting ? if its the usual "crontab needs to be 4755" there are dozens of sites showing the solution, and it needs to be done by the server admin
sparky
You will need to use SFTP and login as root or you can login using SSH as root and chmod the file Normal FTP restricts any uid bellow 100
