Active client with Active accounts (cannot add funds?)

Hi,

Puzzled by this one.

all other clients seem ok. (approx 1000), but this one. Has an active domain name and an active monthly hosting account and wants to add funds to their account, but when they go to the 'Add Funds' page it shows them this message:

"You must have at least one active order before you can add funds so you cannot proceed at the current time!"

It won't let them add funds at all. Anyone got any ideas?

as per the *message* ;)

having an active *product* or *domain* doesnt matter, there has to be an *order* in the system - this has caused us issues where we've migrated clients in from other applications ...

lol you are joking :-)

so you are telling me that I have to tell a customer that I've had for years that although they have 'active' accounts I can't actually differentiate between them and fraudsters?

So in actual fact, the *message* should read:

"You must have placed one active order within WHMCS (thats the billing system we now use) and not have placed one in any previous billing system we used prior to that, or else, you won't be able to add funds - sorry"

Surely it should be about having 'active accounts' and not 'active orders' ?

A fraudulent "order" which gets paid for creates active domains, and would allow them to make more credits and therefore more fraud items - i *think* thats the idea behind it ...

The credits system needs a little work

- option to inc/exc VAT from the credit amount invoice.

- option for active order/domain/host

- option for just a flag to say "allow credits" on a client-by-client basis

- option for credits to only be assigned by client against invoices rather than automated

etc.

To solve your immediate issue, just "order" a new domain for the client, set the order active, delete the domain record :D

In my case, I approve all orders and don't accept any orders from anyone using free email addresses, yahoo, hotmail, gmail etc. So, if a customer is listed as having an 'active account' I would expect them to be recognised by the system as being given the courtesy of being recognised as not a fraudster.

In this instance, as you say othello, I had to raise a dummy domain registration

pleaseignorethisdomainreg.com

cancel the invoice, apologise to the customer, remove the domain registration from their account, all in the name of allowing them to 'add funds' to their own account.

Something's not right.

By your same reasoning they would then have and *active* order, by virtue of you having manually accepted it :D

And people where you've not manually accepted an order shouldnt be allowed to "load funds" (which is what happened)

Not saying its the right "selection" method though ...

cancel the invoice

tick the box not to cretae one and not to email the client - makes support easier
