Due to other commitments progress is slow...I should have an update in about a month's time. In essence the routine is going to insert the username and password in the radcheck table. It's also going to insert a group in the usergroup table. That's about it for now. The housekeeping functions will be the stuff that takes time.

Hi. Any update on RADIUS from anyone, or from WHMCS themselves? We're evaluating this script and it looks really nice. However, with the 'simple' addition of the ability to create/suspend/unsuspend/terminate accounts in a Radius server - this could be a complete ISP / WISP billing software as well. That's a HUGE market, and would help position WHMCS against products like OptiGold as well.

For our own selfish little needs, I'd love to be able to use the same program for our Hosting & our ISP customers - and then be able to use the same HelpDesk software for everyone.

Hi guys,

What requirements would you expect to see if freeradius was intergrated ?

basic addition of multiple attribs into radcheck, radreply, usergroups, radgroupcheck, and radgroupreply.

on activation to be added to freeradius db and on suspension removal ?

Immediate needs:

activation date, expiration date

other nice to haves :

monthly totals of traffic / session info ?

Would you be prepared to part pay development costs ?

I would be interested in sharing techniques, or contributing to the scripting needed to perform the integration. I am re-implementing radius as our current radius servers are aging and need to be replaced. I'm new to WHM, but not new to radius or unix scripting.

I have already integrated radius into whm. Radius is not an api driven application so the integration process had to be scripted totally by hand, we make use of shaped, unshaped, and local on one account as well as offer prepaid access of these three options on one account, so it was quite a bit of work to get it to work 100%, but customers can add radius, on payment the users are created on the radius server, the suspend, unsuspend, and password, and change package options now work, and the users can add additionl traffic via addons on each of the products.

Have you already integrated radius or are you looking to integrate it ?

I am looking to integrate it. I'm prepared to write the provisioning scripts myself... but I'm more interested in the whm side of things.

I'm also not sure about how we want to work the suspend/de-provisioning... Many of our customers pay us intermittantly, and when we used to suspend users, they used that as a way of not paying us for the whole year... our revenues were much lower when a user could pick and choose what months to pay for. We currently charge for every month and only turn them off when they cancel... that way they owe us for 12 months out of the year, rather than just the months they feel like paying... So it could be we won't suspend users at all...

We have been in business a long time, and if we turned off users when they got behind, it would be easy for them to quit, and I guarantee we would have a lot less users by now. We make them actually quit. As a result many keep paying us after they move on the broadband from the cable company... Plus we have better email, so they pay their old dialup bill just to keep their email from changing.

I'm lazy, and was looking for some direct advice from someone that already had integration done... I'm sure I can figure it out myself, if I read the documentation... ;)

I've been writing unix scripts for 20 years, so there is no other excuse than sheer lazyness... Plus, answers from forums are usually better than answers out of the book.

so was any further progress made with this.

I'm currently using freeradius with sql backend and evaluating WHMCS. I like what i see so far but the radius integration is a must.

I also agree in regards to stopping users connecting. (suspend) far easier to send them overdue notices and charge a late fee after 30 days.

Hey, this is good news. I missed this post, but was just STF and discovered this. I'd be VERY interested in getting this working for our local dialup/wireless customers! :) Right now, we're using a different program for ISP billing, but would love to integrate everything into a single billing program.
