crazyfish
Just got an email from paypal about the website payments pro now being available for Canada, will this work right away or will whmcs need to be tweaked? I would assume it might use a different URL then the US.
bigsean
just saw this myself, the rates are comparable to a few Canadian Merchants so this seems quite interesting. Not sure of the down-side (if any) when using PayPal Payments Pro....also wondering if this is compatible with WHMCS. cheers
crazyfish
Yeah the rates are the same as what I was paying to psigate so it would be nice to have it all under 1 payment processor and now customers can stop asking if they need a paypal account to make the payment.
mysmallbizu
I added it today, and it seems to work fine. A couple of things I noticed though... If you use paypal_pro with membership software like amember.com the paypal pro plugin gives the buyer the option of using their existing paypal account OR a direct credit card transaction... I activated the whmcs paypal pro payment gateway and only the credit card option is available with it... so you have to keep the paypal standard gateway active if you want it to continue having regular paypal as a purchase option. the other is the credit card details requested.. the default credit card template asks for: 1. Issue Number and 2. Start Date / (MM/YY) Matt has provided a zip file that removes these two fields in another thread. ( they are only used for discover/switch cards). http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=8553&highlight=issue+number has the file. I've successfully taken payments with the canadian version of paypal pro and it works well. apollo1
I signed up for it a few days ago, and so far it looks very good. Until the end of 2008, there are no monthly fee. then after than it is $35 CAD per month. It was so much easier to sign up than an application I once completed (but never submitted) for PSIGate.
DIYWebHosting
How are you guys finding PayPal Website Payments Pro Canada with WHMCS? Anything notable worth mentioning? Just wondering if I should test it out and possibly ditch PSiGate in order to have everything in one place and save a little money. I'll lose American Express support, but very few clients seem to use that card.
apollo1
If I'm not mistaken, with PayPal WPPC you can accept Visa, MC, Amex and Discover. There might be more.
DIYWebHosting
PayPal lists just Visa and MasterCard on their site for WPPC, with all other cards being supported using normal PayPal payments.
apollo1
Oh ok, my mistake. I thought it was also Amex. Hopefully in the future they will add it.
DIYWebHosting
US version supports it, Canadian one only supports Visa/MC right now. Anyway, I've been testing out the gateway with WHMCS and it was very easy to set up and is working fine. One thing I noticed: - WHMCS isn't passing customer address/IP information to PayPal. It doesn't affect whether the transaction goes through or not, but it triggers a warning in the Gateway Log and makes PayPal's fraud filters useless. (I signed up to test their $20 advanced fraud filters too so it's really useless)

Matt can easily update the payment module to send the address/IP info ..

MattKD
Hi Guys, With paypal pro am I correct in thinking that WHMCS stores the clients credit card details, cvv etc and basically submits them to paypal (pro) automatically as required - as opposed to paypal standard where they have to setup the subscription with paypal and the value can't be changed etc? Edit: Also I saw a couple of threads regarding the US version of paypal pro and they were saying you had to pay an extra 30\month for recurring hence the question. Thanks! Matt
DIYWebHosting
Yes, with PayPal Website Payments Pro the credit card details are saved within WHMCS.
