October 14 - We're all going to get abducted (or something), apparently..

Ah whatever.. Since when did E.T. phone home?

It's possible - I'm open. I won't believe it until Scotty beams me up or until they crash land in my yard.

Aliens, if you are reading, please try to aim for something other than my pond. I've been feeding those fish for a year already

I am just waiting to see MrLen's response lol...

I mean he did say ALL of us so if he doesn't respond, some will say he was taken, however it prooves the point that he was wrong as the REST of us are still here!

The human brain uses like 10% of its capacity in day to day thinking, we do not utilise our brains for what they are so theoretically it is possible that life forms exist outside of 'Earth'. But on the other hand look at everything this plannet needed to start?

Distance from the sun - just right, not to hot and not to cold, life can exist within its perameters

Atmosphere - without this no gasses would be valid and we would not exist

Photosynthesis - without this no-one would exist.. we need plants to create oxygen for us to survive

communication - humans have developed one language that converts into different anatomies of it. Hello = Bonjour in French for example. But all still the same meanings/language, just spoke differently...

If you add up all these and taking into account the odds of each, the ratio of another life form existing in this universe is astronomical! We are 1 of many galexy's and still it has taken us millions of years to get to this stage and billions for the plannet to develop for all the right mixture to make it habitable...

Finding another life form within the next 10,000 years is still very, very, very, very slim, if any at all lol!

I agree with someone who posted above, utilise your brain for learning and more, not let your imagination run off on a tangent while you are on some wacky backy! :D

Get a grip, we are who we are, we have what we have, we do what we do, we progress as we can...

Anyway we have been ommiting harmful gases to the environment for around 100 years or so now and the plannet is already having massive issues with global warming, put it this way...

- Billions of years for the plannet to get to a habbitable stage

- Millions of years for us to develop and live successfully to this stage

- around 100 years to put the plannet at risk of massive non reversible implications

So you think we will be around for another 100 years? Ha, don't count on it sunshine ;)

They can't save the econemy with the whole world working together, and you think they can change the greenhouse gases issue in less than 100 years? LOL.

Anyhow, if they do exist, we won't be around by then anyway :)

Sorry to 'piss on your party' :D

Regards,

Andrew.

What you're not taking into account is that these things are needed for human or animal life as we know it. With the vast amount of planets and solar systems that are known to exist (and probably loads more that aren't yet known), I'd say the odds are actually in favor of finding other life forms. They may not be much like us, but to say they can't possibly exist is arrogant, to say the least.

We (mankind) adapted to life in this environment. Who's to say other forms of life in distant places haven't also?

Glad your not calling me arogant there because otherwise I may get offended! Luckily I said the chances are slim for any time soon!!

So how do you expect another life form to communicate with us at all if they cannot even survive in our environment? (which is what you are stating). Yes, Not impossible granted but yet another set back. For example it took us hundreds of years to try and interpret egyption ancient symbols...

Not you personally, no, unless you are dismissing any possibility of life other than what's known to us currently. Not that long ago, men thought the Earth was completely flat. Sure of it. No doubt. They were later proven wrong. ;)

So how do you expect another life form to communicate with us at all if they cannot even survive in our environment?

How does man exist in space? How about under the ocean?

Same idea. Just because they aren't using the same air, heat tolerance, gravity, or what have you doesn't mean they can't exist. Have an open mind.

Oh yeah agreed...

I am just pointing out that there are many issues where issues would arise... And how long has it taken man to get into space? At least 2008 years... possibely even 10,000 if we are saying back to when we evolved into the 'Stone age' man...

You should also take into the problematic issues that would arise and maybe realise that its not going to happen within the next 1000 years :P
