Si
Hi, Can anyone tell me where you are meant to set your username in Nominet's EPP Live setup as per the WHMCS documentation and as the Nominet registrar module asks for in version 3.7+ ? WHMCS Docs state: "To setup the nominet module Go to Configuration > Domain Registrars and then select Nominet from the dropdown menu. You will then need to enter the username & password you have setup for the EPP system in your Nominet account. You will also need to authorize your server IP for access to your Nominet account via the API as they restrict IP access to accounts. " I can see the EPP system in my nominet account asking for a password twice and for IP addresses, but not for my to setup a username. The username I have to login to Nominet's system doesn't work either. So, what and where is this username? Anyone shed any light on this please? Thanks Si

Si
Hi Si, The username is your IPS TAG I beleive. Thanks Neil, I'm baffled by the lack of response from everyone on this who was supposed to be beta testing the nominet epp and who don't appear to know the answer. I have that in my settings now, but am getting this error: Registrar Error Error: Connecting to ssl://epp.nominet.org.uk on port 700. The error message was 'Connection timed out' (code 110) Further, (and I know it's not your problem), but I wouldn't have upgraded if I'd known that by doing so I would have lost the Nominet PGP module and functionality I've been using for years and which has been working for ages. I haven't tested EPP yet and now I'm forced into EPP live with a live site and its not working, and I'm thinking I've done the wrong thing in upgrading to 3.71. WHMCS CEO Matt Posted September 10, 2008 WHMCS CEO Share Posted September 10, 2008 You can always keep the Nominet module from the previous version should you wish to continue using the older & less efficient PGP email system. /modules/registrars/nominet/ is the folder it's contained in. DigitalEnigma
@Si I didn't have the time to test the beta and have only just installed the stable release in our dev area to have a play with before re-skinning. I've hit issues with the ProTX module in the latest release so far not redirecting to 3Dsecure. @Matt I'd suggest maybe changing Username to Registrar Tag in the config so it's clearer or adding a note or something.
DigitalEnigma
One thing I have noticed is there is a testmode checkbox however the passwords for live and testbed cannot be the same so do we need to change the passwords between modes - does the test mode actually connect to the testbed servers? And on the subject of passwords the password field is currently set as a plain text field so the password can be seen.
DigitalEnigma
Si, Do you have a Firewall that could be blocking access to the epp servers at Nominet causing your error?
BionicInternet
Hello Guys, We too are getting this error: Domain Registrar Error Error: Connecting to ssl://epp.nominet.org.uk on port 700. The error message was 'Unable to find the socket transport "ssl" - did you forget to enable it when you configured PHP?' (code 4780118) Username is the TAG passwords are right. Firewall is not blocking, any suggestions anyone?
DigitalEnigma
Hi Richard, Your error looks to be a PHP configuration issue. I had the same time out as Si which was down to our Firewall blocking the port.

isdoo
If folks are failing to connect - make sure you have entered your Server IP and not your domain IP which may be different. I am sure everyone here will do it correctly, but just mentioning it just in case
roop
Hi Guys, I'm troubleshooting Nominet EPP having registered my IPs/Password on the Nominet Site, but all I am getting is "Registrar Error - Command syntax error". I'm running PHP 5.1.6 with openssl/curl support enabled. Where are you guys getting your detailed error messages from? Thanks, Rupert
roop
Found the problem; it was my password. Not a typo, but my password was 17 characters, which seems to cause a problem. I'm not sure if it's at Nominet's end or WHMCS, but I get the error above with 17 characters, and if I drop it to 16 everything works. Hope this helps someone else!
