meeven
I have a few packages and some clients keep running out of space. When this happens, instead of asking them to upgrade to the next higher package (which may involve a higher cost for them), I would like to give them the option of adding the space of their choice. For example, 100 MB, 250 MB etc. Is there a way to define an upgrade like this for a particular package?
BAJI26
You can use/purchase this: http://www.whmcs.com/configurablepackageaddon.php
chickendippers
Or you could setup addons.
JLHC
From what I see the OP wants to be able to automate this process instead of setting add-ons and do it manually. I would like to here on what the WHMCS team have to say about this.
othellotech
Is there a way to define an upgrade like this for a particular package? Yes, create hidden copies of the original package called x-plus-200Mb etc and enable upgrades
meeven
BAJI26, if I remember right, one can do manually what the configurablepackageaddon does. chickendippers, using addons is an interesting possibility. But, as JLHC said, what I am really looking at is for the customer to login to their account, click on 'upgrade' and, there, see various options for upgrading (not just to a higher or lower package). And, once the customer selects an option, he/she is walked through a set of steps where details of that option can be chosen. I am attaching a screenshot from luxsci.com that may explain this better. Is it possible to do something like this in WHMCS? Update: For some reason, the forum software is scaling down the image badly, but I think you will get the idea.
chickendippers
Yea, that's possible using addons, take a look at what I've done with it. Although unfortunately it's not automatic, so if a customer chooses an addon we have to manually apply it to their package.
meeven
othellotech and chickendippers, thanks for sharing your ideas. I haven't been visiting whmcs forums lately, so apologies for the delayed response. The thing I can't understand is how an upgrade to disk space can be applied even manually to a WHM package. Does it work like a quota upgrade to a particular account that is manually applied through WHM? I recollect cPanel advising against doing it like this, although I can't pull up the exact thread or remember why.
chickendippers
You can just increase the diskspace in WHM by clicking "Quota Modification".

meeven
You can just increase the diskspace in WHM by clicking "Quota Modification". chickendippers, thank you. I noticed that, but I have heard it said on Site5 and cPanel forums that doing it like that has some issues - I have just forgotten what the issues are.
othellotech
Is there a way to define an upgrade like this for a particular package? copy your existing packages and call them (name)+500Mb etc and allow upgrades to those
chickendippers
We do that pretty frequently and I haven't noticed any problems myself.

And, won't this have repercussions on the billing side? I manually modified the quota for an account and found that WHM does not display the correct package for the domain any more (it can't).

In your experience, does using this method reflect package details accurately in WHM at the List Accounts area?

meeven
Thanks If I may ask once more, do I need to create the package copies in WHM too? Or, just the configuration in WHMCS will do?
