.me domain Look Up server (whois)

whois.nic.me is not accepting connections on port 43 so can not be used. ".me|whois.meregistry.net|NOT FOUND" has been recommended to me, but it is providing some strange results and welcome others views on this.

For instance, doing a search on the WHOIS at http://www.domain.me/ for a popular name e.g. Peter - may come up as NOT FOUND - and therefore available, but according to ENOM's whois, its not available. I'm wondering if these popular names are going through the auction process but not reflected in the WHOIS?

the .me|whois.nic.me|NOT FOUND

should work, and certainly did earlier in the week, but now the me registry are denying the whois lookups

currently to do registrations you are having to go to their website which will tel you if its taken, a premium domain they'll be auctioning, or a general "NOT FOUND" which you can then order

Hi,

I am trying to add the option to add the newly realeased .ME domain extension - however i am unable to get the whois correct within the whoisservers.php file,i am using:

.me|http://domain.me/index.php?page=4&whois_name=|HTTPREQUEST-not found but it is not working,as when you do a search for a registered .me domain it shows as available when it isnt - what am i doing wrong?

I have just had customers place orders for .me domains which through WHMCS are showing as available to register yet, when I process them through eNom the domains are already registered.

I am using .me|whois.meregistry.net|NOT FOUND in the whoisservers.php file

Anyone else getting the same issue?

Here's something really lame,

We have had a ton of problems with premium names where the names show as available at domains.me, also, the whois lookup shows them as available, but enom cant register them.

All other run of the mill names have registered perfectly well, without any problems, just not premium names.

I rang enom to ask them what WHOIS lookup server are they using because their lookup's are far more accurate, but even they didnt know!!!!!

Ah yes, premium domains, that would explain why clients have thought they have been able to order kate.me, tom.me and aweso.me etc yet when we come to actually register these domains for them they are available. Premium domain situ sucks, throws a right spanner in the works.

Whilst I haven't called eNom, i have sent them a support ticket asking the whois servers they recommend using, so I await their reply.

What are people doing with this, are you just letting customers order the domains and then refund if not available?

Thats all we can do at the moment.

And AFAICT all 2 char or less .me's are not available and all 3 char are either reserved or gone - so *really* need a feature in WHMCS to be able to specify the shortest length to accept for a domain - keep getting people trying to to na.me etc
