How to preset a custom field value for a product in cart?

There's a product, with a custom field (i.e. "serial number")

The direct link to the product  is this:

/cart.php?a=add&pid=1&carttpl=standard_cart

There's any way to set the default value of "serial number", embedding it into the link?

That's to say, something like:

/cart.php?a=add&pid=1&carttpl=standard_cart&serialnumber=123456  ... ?
