Does it matter whether original order was Domain Registration or Domain Transfer after the first invoice is paid and completed?

depending on the TLD, a domain transfer might add a year to the expiry date anyway (for most gTLDs, e.g .com / net etc, then it will).

oh absolutely - as soon as it's transferred, there is no difference whether it was registered or transferred... WHMCS will (subject to the cron running) create a renewal invoice for it at the appropriate time, e.g x days before it's next due date.
