"Ghosts" accounts?

Hello WHMCS Users,

Seems like there is a new "functionality" where now we have [users] and [accounts] ?

It's making a lot of problems for us now - we have more and more confused clients and support guys that don't know what to do.

Even some clients are reporting that they are trying to pay for an order but can't because WHMCS is responding with "Client not found" error when they clearly are logged in - payment gateway is reporting the same.

When we are trying to do support for them, we don't see any account on WHMCS but we have to go now to "Clients" => "Manage User" and now questions is how to convert those users to clients so they can pay?

Perhaps there is a way to disable this new [user] functionality and make everyone as [account] (client) as it was before? This new [user] thing is making too much trouble for us and our clients.

  • WHMCS Support Manager

Hi @SubZeroFX,

In v8.0, WHMCS now supports accounts and users in a new end-user login management system. Accounts own services for a given entity. A single user can then manage multiple accounts.

I appreciate this separating the entity to which services belong from individuals who authenticate into the system, is a big change, and could be a bit mind-bending at first. So we've put together these resources to help explain: it all:

You can effectively disable the multi-user system by disabling the user invitation option; Disable Client Area User Management in Configuration > System Settings > General Settings > Other. This way an account will have only one user associated with it; the owner.

Is there a way to automatically convert [users] into [accounts] ?

Or if we could do that somehow via Hooks/API - please let us know.

We do not really need/want our clients just to have [user] account as its very confusing for them and our support team - ideally we always want to [user] have at least one [account].
