10 year subscription

Can someone please tell me how to set up 10 year subscription for a product?   Any help is highly appreciated.

out of the box, you can't do it - with additional coding and tweaks, you could use another cycle for 10 yrs, or you could use an addon such as Recurring Billing Extended - neither are ideal solutions to the issue.... using Billable Items would be an option, but then the client wouldn't see it as a product in their client area.

hosting renewal on demand was supposed to have been introduced in v7.8, but I don't think even that would have allowed for 10 year creation or renewals of services - there's been nothing in the v8 spin about it being included.

it's a long requested feature, 7 years and nearly 90 votes, but there's no knowing if/when it will added as a feature in the default program.

thank you so much for responding.. Its sad that such a simple request is not considered by WHMCS. People like us, have customers who wants to opt for lifetime subscription (its nothing but a 10 year subscription) .. and they dont want to pay between..

Hi @jimsweb

As @brian! mentioned you can use the Billable Items as being left with no other choice.  I also had same problem client wanted an invoice every two months and Brian suggested Billable Items

I created a custom product and placed a order without an invoice generation and then created a recurring invoice using  Billable Items.

there's no technical reason why WHMCS has to stick with the default 8 billing cycles - it's just the way things have always been and they haven't seen fit to change it.

for a lifetime subscription, you might want to look at the one-time cycle option - which is just a one off payment with no recurring invoice date.

in practice, there are only 3 real differences between an annual cycle and a decennial (10 years) cycle...

  1. the initial amount.
  2. the next due date.
  3. the option to renew for upto a further ten (or more) years.

for example, if someone orders/pays an annual service from you today, it's next due date would be this time next year... if you manually altered that due date to 2030, then it becomes a 10 subscription rather than 1 year as WHMCS wouldn't invoice again until it hits that updated due date.

there's no current default method to renew it for another 10 years time when it becomes due for renewal in 2030, but there might be by then - even if there wasn't, there are workarounds to fix that.

plus the invoices would need to be adjusted before being sent to the user to accommodate the updated cycle dates.
