Pending Orders Badge (Green) always shows 2

For the past few years, the green Pending Order Badge has always shown 2 pending orders, although there is none to be found.

Even when I accept, cancel or delete all orders it always gets stuck at 2.  It works fine when new orders are placed, and the numbers go up/down, although it always shows 2 Pending Orders, when there is actually none.

Is there any fix to this?

Im currently using Version: 7.8.1

Have you searched in the database directly? I'd take a wild guess that a few orders were either deleted (during testing?) or were otherwise canceled or moved and the pending flag wasn't removed/changed.
