Suggest product upgrades during checkout

Hello all.

Is there a way to allow the client to choose a product upgrade during checkout? Right now the client chooses the product and it takes them to checkout, but after that they can't choose an upgrade or downgrade until after purchasing. I have some product upgrades that are available but which I don't want to display on the product comparison chart.

For example, if a client chooses Hosting Package A, I want them to get to the checkout and see "Available Upgrade! Hosting Package A with more disk space!" or something like that. If they select it, then it would take Hosting Package A out of their cart and replace it with Hosting Package A With More Space, essentially encouraging them to purchase the upgraded version instead after they've already made their choice.

Is this possible? Right now it looks like once they choose a product, they can't change their mind and choose a different product during checkout unless they go back and start from the beginning. Maybe some kind of way to do it with product bundles?

anything is possible - but not from settings.

the cart process in WHMCS hasn't changed in many years and really flows in one direction through a series of predefined steps (product -> config domain -> config product -> viewcart -> checkout).

not really - bundles are just envelopes of products and define a process to add multiple products to the cart by looping around the above procedure for each product... not really what you want to do.

have you looked at using Configurable Options with your products - that could allow your customers to vary some features of the account - disk space being one and adjust the price accordingly - i'll guarantee that will be an easier path than the cart customisation you may require to do what you specify in your question!

if you need these automatically provisioned, then you may need to buy the Configurable Package Addon from Marketplace (written by WHMCS themselves); if you want to do provisioning manually, no additional addons would be needed.
