Selecting Domain Contact Creates Error during checkout

In the cart in 3.5, when the drop down to add a new domain contact is selected should the contact fields not open automatically. Instead, the form is submitted and it returns errors that they weren't completed and then presents the fields for completion. Or is this something I've messed during skinning?

However, doesn't it seem a little strange (even unprofessional) to be showing errors on the page when the customer wasn't prompted to enter anything.


Can someone with better knowledge of this than me, produce some code to make the domain contact form open on the same page (or have the page refresh) with the fields rather than have the customer submit a form which returns errors?
