Some invoices aren't generated

Some, but not all, invoices are being generated by the cron job on our installation. We have the cron job running successfully (with complete messages) daily at 9am. Our most recent customer that failed to generate an invoice had the next due date set correctly, billing was set to annually, recurring amount correct, etc. No errors in the activity log were shown up (for 14 days before renewal date as set in our settings). No record of emails sent to this customer. It did, however, run the suspension, suspending the account and emailing the customer. The invoice wasn't created and deleted.

I have been through all the points in http://docs.whmcs.com/Invoicing_Issues#Items_Not_Invoicing and unless I've missed something it doesn't appear to be connected to any of these issues.

As I said, other invoices are being generated but I can't seem to tell why this one hasn't.

Any suggestions as to where we can look next to figure out this issue?

any common themes about the invoices not being generated? e.g is it the same customer?? the same product (or group of products)?? different currencies ??

Different customers, using different products, but within the same product group. It's quite a low traffic site so I don't necessarily want to make any presumptions about the fact they are in the same group as that's the one we sell most stuff from - just something to bear in mind. Only one currency being used.

I've been through and compared each product and the product group with other products and groups that I know are working and apart from the obvious like price and name there are no differences between the products.
