helm v3/v4

pod

Question

1) I would like to know if we start using whmcs with helm v3 is it easy to switch whmcs over to use helm v4.

2) does whmcs setup helm reseller account in both v3 and v4?

3) Is there a demo of whmcs with a helm backend? We are interested in understanding how whmcs works with the control panel (not the helm api) but user experience. IE: AWBS forces all users to log into AWBS and then awbs shows portions of helms screens. Does whmcs do this also or are the two completely seperate.

4) adding to the #3 question. If whmcs and helm are seperate as in the user has to log into each. How is whmcs and helm synced if a user adds new features or plans via helm instead of using whmcs?

Hi,

Your post was not seen before. If you have specific questions you want us to answer, open a ticket with the sales department. In answer to your questions:

1. Of course, you can add servers of different control panels at any time

2. Yes, it will

3. The two are completely seperate - WHMCS is used for billing and will setup, suspend & terminate the accounts on the Helm server - Helm is used to manage the hosting accounts

4. You should make all changes in WHMCS

Regards,

Matt

so for #4, basically turn off the billing section and then turn off the "available to purchase" for hosting plans and extra features inside of helm? So that users must log into the billing app (WHMCS)?

I also assume you have can customer pricing and or discounting for one reseller and not another strictly from the WHMCS side? while keep the helm pricing the same accross the plans?

You should turn off billing within Helm 3 if you're using WHM.

The problem I see and that I haven't been able to figure a workaround to is that if you turn on extra features in Helm 3, it allows the customer to add them from within their Helm CP too. Obviously we don't want the user to add extra features at will via their interface but rather through WHM. The problem with WHM is that adding extra features there doesn't create them on the Helm 3 server, so we're stuck from both sides.

Really, I'd like to see Helm allow me to add extra features manually as a reseller, but not allow the customer to add them. Then when they put an order in through WHM I just manually add or remove the extra features to Helm as required. Because Helm has a problem removing extra features having WHM automatically do it might result in problems when downgrading extra features.

So from my point of view, the main issue for me is on the Helm side.

So whats the solutions for using addons then if adding it via WHM doesn't add it to helm (they pay for something that will never work) and adding it via doesn't add it to WHM (they will never get charged for it).

A good question, and the same one that's stopping us from using WHMCS with Helm at the moment.

I have asked support, will see what they say.

I am hoping that using WHMCS will make it easier to move to another CP when the time comes, as HELM3 clearly has a short life now seeing as it wont be updated, and HELM4 upgrade tool looks like it will never be finished , and if it is, will cost a fortune to upgrade.

Also does anyone know if WHMCS does automatic billing, or do customers need to login and pay ? And if it is automatic, is this supported with all the listed gateways?

From what i understand from people on the Helm forum, the only way to add extra features is manually. Now you could either assign these in Helm using the Extra Features functions, or manually adjust there quota limits on their plans as and when needed. Not ideal, but still.

Umm - WHA then Parrallels equals disaster.

Helm3 works. Getting a little out of date true, but it works. Helm 4 was a total failure to start with, it might work a little now, but I'd never move to Helm4, nor Plesk for that matter.

I looked at DNP, but it felt it was somewhat simple and cumbersome.

Helm3 works yes, but as it is no longer supported you are now stuck with all the software versions you have, you cannot upgrade your stats, mail, dns, database servers etc in case they no longer work with helm. You also cannot start using windows2008. For that reason I want to move before it becomes a major problem.
